I think you are forgetting that Ridley's size was contently changing in the early days of Metriod. And this is just the games, I haven't even brought up the comics, the manga, the appearance in Captain N, and so on, all which have different sizes.

That model looks awful. The wing argument is spot on, though. Nobody can actually argue with that.
