The only other time I'd heard the phrase 'tone policing' before GamerGate was on Tumblr, that was the first clue that some bullshittery was going on. Since then I've been accused of 'gaslighting', 'tone policing', 'shilling', 'kafkatrapping', all by people who had no idea what the fuck they were talking about and just didn't like what I had to say.
The thing that makes GamerGate great is that we don't all have to agree on everything, just the core principle that games journalism should be ethical and free from corruption.
