Japanese memes

The MIYOCO and Shuzo Matsuoka entries have been tagged with a “Researching” tag by “Community Manager” Brad, and were updated by him and especially “Staff Intern” amanda b. . In this Baccano! opening parody, besides Masami Hisamoto, Fusako Saito and MIYOCO, are the others also memes? I uploaded it to YouTube for those of you who are too lazy to use NND:

I believe that some articles about Japanese memes like the Enemy Controller one need sections about the regions outside of Japan reacting to this Japanese meme, and that’s where the English versions go.

The AirMoto meme is now OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED! Anyway, now that the Cheetah Men II article is created, after I create Two Two’s article, I’m planning to create the article about the Famicom/NES port of Irem’s arcade game based on MicroGraphicImage’s (or Tim Martin’s) Spelunker, that later became one of the most recognizable Japanese Internet memes. I first noticed it in this Flash animation by NSF titled “Michael Quest” (or “Michael Quest III”), the first of NSF’s three Michael Jackson Flash animations...

@mona_jpn “Ichiro Laser Beam” entry is now created. Are you 100% positive that it is to early to create it? If so, then I apologize about it and won’t repeat it to other memes. Here is the entry: http://www.knowyourmeme.com/memes/ichiro-laser-beam @omniputance The Angry German Kid is more like two memes than just one. One about subtitles, the other being MADs.

Japanese memes

To keep this thread running, there is one, or should I say two memes that kind of bother me. Not by its actions, but how many refer to it: Keyboard Crasher/Angry German Kid. They might be the same, but if you look closely, you’ll understand the difference between them. Here are my definitions of them: Keyboard Crasher – A series of MADs that use videos of a boy from Germany supposedly named Leopold, mostly his one video showing his rage against a PC. The name of this meme refers to his largest action:...

You’re not serious, are you, omniputance? I hope not. Anyway… BAD NEWS: Both YouTube accounts me and omniputance created (TasteLeikFoot and AirborneMotor) for uploading AirMoto videos are not permanently disabled. GOOD NEWS: MetaCafe fixed their uploading problem. I’ll be uploading some AirMoto videos (including some important ones) for the AirMoto article at MetaCafe. I’m still working hard on the TwoTwo (Xatu’s in-game cry) and Ichiro articles. I’m not sure if I have all the information the Know Your...

Okay, I can help rewrite it, along with adding images below the article. I have spent several years learning some professional English, while practicing with my typing and article-writing skill. Along with that, during my time searching on Japanese websites for MUGEN characters and information about several lesser-known, but good video games by big-name companies, I ran into several of these memes and decided to help this website understand why they are popular. I’ll work on it, whenever I get enough...

The meme in Japan is called Donald (ドナルド) or Donald McDonald (ドナルド・マクドナルド). It started in Japan about a few months before Super Smash Bros. Brawl was announced. When a MAD video related to the meme was uploaded on YouTube, some English-speaking YouTube users wasn’t repelled by the Japanese text (because they thought language means nothing), while they loved how “insane” the video looks. Countries outside of Japan (especially the U.S.) were too lazy to look them up and just wanted to say “WTF?” They...

This is a thread for discussing about Japanese memes, not just translating anything. While Ran Ran Ru (or “Donald” as Japan calls it) is what the artwork is related to, it’s okay to discuss about it, because the Ran Ran Ru article needs more info about how it became a meme in Japan, and how it became very notable outside of Japan, especially in English-using regions. Here is the source of that image: http://www5c.biglobe.ne.jp/~kurekure/donarudo/index.html

Okay, I believe my current semester in college is now ending, so I’ve got plenty of time to create and update more articles. I have gained a lot of experience in typing well-written paragraphs and articles after spending a lot of time with Wikipedia and some English classes in college, so if you need help with proofreading or fixing up poor grammar in some articles you created, add me to the list. Anyway, here are some videos that are required for the articles of… Ichiro Suzuki This video shows many of...

In the MIYOCO and AirMoto articles: I fixed misspellings (or typos), grammar and other similar problems. & I linked both articles to other meme articles on Know Your Meme that they mentioned. For Shuzo Matsuoka’s article, though I’m unable to edit it, I was allowed to upload several images to the bottom of it, and I did.

I apologize for not returning here in a while, but I just got done updating MIYOCO’s article with info about Shio Jī, while I’ve added a artwork to the “Charge Man Ken” article that I found at Pixiv, which shows “Charge Man Ken” in it along with several other Japanese Internet memes. I still haven’t got started on a few other memes, due to some of my life concerns and my other hobbies, but I will as soon as I find the one Xatu / “Two two” (トゥートゥー) video that popularized the meme.

Japanese memes

I think I’m finished working on MIYOCO’s entry. Are there any problems or missing info for this article? I’ve also discovered a few other thing that I think are Japanese memes: Ichiro Laser Beam (Japan’s Shoop Da Whoop) 世界のナベアツ / Nabeatu しょし / Gregorius:NMKY ネイティオ / Xatu (a series about making fun of its in-game call) Here is the old Japanese Internet memes thread I made before this new one we are currently discussing in was made. This had some old ones I already mentioned, some were already...

Entry for “MIYOCO – The Legendary HipHopper” now created. I have also added mona_jpn and G0 DVL to the editor list: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/miyoco-%E2%80%93-the-legendary-hiphopper Now I have a few questions before I continue to build her entry: Are you saying it’s really inappropriate to mention her real name in anyway? Several English sources often refer to her as “Miyoko Kawahara”, which are pretty important. Besides “Hikkoshi, Hikkoshi, Sassa to Hikkoshi,” (meaning either “Move away, move...

I’m not sure if it’s necessary for someone to translate this Japanese Wikipedia article below into its English version, because I don’t know if the event is notable enough to be added to English Wikipedia. It might also require citations to avoid it from being deleted. Here is the article, which I already showed earlier: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/奈良騒音傷害事件 I’m currently starting to build my first Know Your Meme article, which is about MIYOCO/Hikkoshibaba. You can give me some other ideas and...

Japanese memes

I’ve never expected “Osu! Tatakae! Ōendan” to gain a lot of popularity outside of Japan as soon as it was released, because of it looking so different, I thought it would make most people outside of Japan say something like “What the freak?” In Little Miss Gamer’s “High Compatibility” video, one of the people at the cash register said that its sequel (if not spin-off), Elite Beat Agents, is a rip-off of “Osu! Tatakae! Ōendan”, but it’s actually part of the series. Anyway, I found a new idea: if we can’t...

In order for me to upload more Airmoto videos without being noticed by Shiano Art/Shinano Kikaku, I’ll probably have to create another account and set the videos to “Private” mode for a few days, with only one very good rhttp://knowyourmeme.com/forums/5/topics/3861/posts/35632/editelated tag they don’t usually use to search for. Uploading a large amount at once can make them easier to find in the newest videos list. Uploading them privately makes them very unnoticeable, while using one good tag (e.g....

Well done, everyone. The Shift JIS art represents Hisamoto dreaming of becoming a bird. The arms are the flapping wings, while the lines behind it are what you usually see behind flying objects or people in cartoons. This niconicoMUGEN Wiki article explains that she was dreaming of becoming a bird. It tells MUGEN contributors about where her MUGEN counterpart originated from and how it became popular. Press the square buttons with “+” symbols on them for more info about the meme. It even includes the...

Sometimes they take this food commercial she appeared in, and use it as one of the meme’s materials: RED_ZONE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_EDN4RbLJ4 Kirby Super Star – The Mountain / Sky High http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TMyacchLlU A typical MAD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vAUB0x_WBo
