I may or may not find anything useful to contribute, I am more interested in learning about how the internet and instant, annonymous communication is shaping the future. Memes do seem to reflect a growing trend of mass “flocking” (for lack of a better term). The diversity of obscure images/ideas that come into mainstream use are amazing. It would appear that many of the original ideas I have seen are based on random miss-spelling, poor grammar, language barrier issues, and the universal apeal of kittens...

Assuming NS1 and NS2 are rank structure, if you have seniority, you are REQUIRED to take responsibility, and get them motivated. Not always the easiest thing in the best of times, but can be quit the test of your leadership ability. As a future officer in one of the branches, you have the potential to either lead men well, or hide in the corner while others do it for you. I feel sympathy for ya, since you have no true authority to back you up, but then again you are young. That makes up for a lot.

Well good luck on it. Spent 6 years in the Corps myself, and testing was a bit different then. Pay attention to the basics, learn a few obscure facts (do you recall the 5 colors of a military map? BAMCIS? etc), and most importantly KEEP YOUR BEARING. Do NOT fall apart, stay confident, even when you aren’t. How you handle yourself is usually more important than the subject at hand.

That was a LOOOONG time ago. I have test equipment sitting around the lab here that is older than a lot of you guys. Also still have a few VCS (Atari 2600 as it became known later) still running.

What is the difference that allows Numa to be a meme, but not charlie the unicorn? Both are youtube hits, and rather popular. I see how something like the “Rollin/Hatin” idea is a meme, it is copied and used in new ways over and over (like the shoop ta whoop lazer firing face).
