I’m a physics student with so much free time on my hands that I post ponies on the internet.
This is awesome. The very first shot is of the Cambridge New Museums Site, where I’ve been lectured for the last two years. He’s standing on top of a multi-story parking lot, below which is the shop where I bought my bike. From his view, I can see the overpriced coffee shop where I occasionally sit down to work between lectures. It’s so cool to see so many familiar places from such a different perspective.
Apparently it’s Scratch, though I’ll admit the resemblance isn’t perfect. I just thought my old avatar was in desperate need of a replacement, and this one seemed good enough. I’ll probably be replacing it soon if I can find anything better.
>Good looking as a man
>Gets sex change
>Good looking as a woman
Some people get all the luck.
People didn’t know this? I understand for people who don’t live in the UK, but I thought this was common knowledge here.
How does I high five?
Really? These guys have been doing this for years, and they’re pretty damn pro at it. I’d be seriously impressed if you could actually dance like that.
Fun fact: If you just search ‘dubstep’ in YouTube, that first guy with the super-human moves has the number one video with about 72 million views. Some of the things he can do don’t even seem physically possible.
Nice episode! The quality of these seems to be getting better every time.
For the people complaining about the lack of poni:
While the MLP fandom has produced a ridiculous amount of fanfiction recently, I don’t think it’s had much effect on the world of fanfiction at large. Everything they’ve made has stayed contained within the fandom, while the likes of My Immortal is notorious even beyond the Harry Potter fandom. Anyway, it’s not like they’re breaking any new ground by making crack pairings or putting characters in unnecessarily gruesome situations. Other fandoms had been doing that for years beforehand. The only fanfiction that I know of that would have possibly been worth mentioning is Full Life Consequences, but even that’s pushing it.
I believe this is relevant to your interests.
1) Evolution is something which only occurs over many generations, and isn’t something that you can experience by ‘sitting in the sun’. It requires reproduction over many generations in order for good traits to become more prevalent than bad ones. That’s the only kind of biological evolution there is.
2a) The word ‘theory’ did not have its definition changed because of evolution. A ‘scientific theory’ has always been the same thing, and it’s essentially the highest form of proof a hypothesis can attain. It’s a working model of some phenomena that makes testable predictions, and has been approved by the scientific community at large.
2b) The theory of evolution does not contradict the Second Law of Thermodynamics. If it did, we would have discarded the theory years ago. It states that entropy (disorder) will always increase in a closed system, but life on Earth is hardly a closed system. Organisms absorb energy produced by the sun, use it for various things, and release it back into the universe again. The Law doesn’t state that complexity can’t build up over time, or that anything in nature must get ‘worse’ over time. It just states that the total entropy of the universe will always increase, and evolving life is fully consistent with that.
This video has been reposted once already. A second repost probably wasn’t necessary.
Added a video to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Hey, I found a new Skrillex song on UKF Drum and Bass of all places, and thought I’d share it in case you hadn’t heard it already. I for one approve of this sound. He makes some mean drumstep.
Oh yeah, and apparently we finally have a finished mix of Voltage:
Well, looks like I’ve got a new avatar to use for a while. That reminds me, I should really get around to updating my profile…
Oh hai, so I heard you wanted to know more about electronica. I’ll just cover some of the most popular genres:
House is the most well-known genre. It uses a very typical 4/4 rhythm, with a bass kick on every beat. It’s usually between about 120 and 130 bpm. Almost all modern popular electronic dance music is house. It encompasses a wide range of sounds, from more relaxing tracks like this to heavier sounds like this.
Trance is very similar to house, and it’s often difficult to tell the difference between them. It shares the same beat patterns, but can have a higher tempo, ranging between 120 and 150 bpm. It tends to be more melodic, and often uses distinctive synth sounds not found in house. It used to be really popular about 10 years ago, but it’s drifted out of the mainstream recently. I don’t know much about trance to be honest, and you’ll have to ask Blue Screen if you want to know more about it.
There’s a lot of confusion around dubstep. Most people see it as ‘that genre with all the annoying noises’, but that’s mostly just found in a subgenre called brostep [warning, it’s freakin’ awful]. Purer dubstep tends to sound a lot more relaxed, and it has a heavy focus on sub-bass (you probably won’t hear it without a good set of headphones or a huge subwoofer). It has a tempo of around 140 bpm, and you can easily recognise it by its half-time beat pattern.
Drum and Bass is a high-tempo genre, usually between 160 and 180 bpm. It relies heavily on breakbeats, though a recent genre called ‘drumstep’ uses the same beat pattern as dubstep, only at the higher tempo. It’s easily my favourite genre within electronica, as I find it has the most musical quality and diversity. (I’d recommend this or this)
Shit, sorry that I didn’t answer your question earlier. My bad.
I’ve lived in England for my entire life, so chances are you don’t know me IRL.
Scratch can’t believe you don’t have more followers. I intend to correct this.
Hi, thanks for the follow! I’ll use it as an excuse to reuse this awesome gif:
Oh, have a friendship too.
Hey, thanks for the follow! Your reward is a friendship, and adorkable Twilight. Please use both responsibly.
Molar mass is the mass of one mole of a substance, where one mole is defined as 6.022E23 particles. It isn’t the literal mass of an atom in grams. I guess the molar mass of neutronium would therefore be the mass of 6.022E23 neutrons, which is around 1 gram (unless relativity rears its ugly head to change a neutron’s mass under those conditions. Not sure about that tbh). However, I’ve never seen anybody use the term to refer to anything other than a chemical substance, and it certainly isn’t one of those. There’s also a chance that neutronium doesn’t even consist of discrete neutrons, and is actually a dense collection of quarks and gluons. If that’s the case, you may be unable to define its molar mass at all.
Also, your profile is approaching dangerous levels of awesome. Nice job!
That’s kinda weird. I just loaded them into iTunes and they all work fine. I had to manually edit them so they would all appear under one compilation, but otherwise I’ve had no problems. Are you running them directly from the zip file or something? (If you’re using Windows Media Player, that could also be your problem, since it’s the worst thing to ever happen to mankind)
DUDE. YOU HAVE TO CLICK THIS LINK LIKE, RIGHT NOW.
It links to 19 free songs from Skrillex’s record label. Free dubstep and electro-house for everyone! I haven’t heard all of it yet, but what I have heard is pretty good. Did I mention that it’s free?
You’ll never guess what I found in my subscription feed this morning:
Seriously, I didn’t think this would ever come out. It’s not my favourite one so far, but it’s got its funny moments. Also, music by TheLivingTombstone! :D
Added a video to asdfmovie.
What? You’re leaving? But you’ve always been one of the better posters on Pony General! Come back, man!
