Here’s one for you! Teoing Tumblr
I don’t even follow sports but I read this article breaking down the whole story this morning and the whole thing blows my mind. I would say if you’ve seen a lot of pictures and parodies, go for an event entry! Related: I’ve been trying to figure out how we can present a Catfish entry for months now (it’s kind of a meme but more a tv show, maybe a person entry on Nev?), so if anyone has any thoughts on that maybe i’ll start another thread
YouTuber Bo Burnham has been uploading comedy videos and songs since 2006. I’m Bo Yo (the song of his that I remember best) from June 2008 has more than 19 million views as of today. In 2011, he won the Comedy Central Stand-up showdown, thanks to his youtube following. Some comics saw his fame as illegitimate because it came through YouTube. WikipediaTwitterFacebook 436k likes

Approximately 3 weeks ago, Tumblr user Rohan Salmond AKA robofillet posted a series of photos of himself seductively holding knitting needles and yarn with the caption “yes im a boy / yes i knit things.” As of today, this post has more than 88k notes Tumblr user Gokuma suggested on December 30th that he should be a DC comic book villain and Tumblr exploded KYMdb – The Knitter

On January 11th, internet activist, political organizer and computer programmer Aaron Swartz killed himself. He helped write RSS 1.0 at 14 years old. He later helped build Infogami, a platform that hosts Open Library sites, which merged with Reddit in November 2005. After they were bought by Conde Nast, he worked for Wired for a short time. In 9/2007, he launched the web site creation platform Jottit and went on to join Harvard’s Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics through 2010 and 2011. Also in 2010, he...
Alright, here’s the game plan: there’s already mention of Aaron Swartz’ recent death in the Reddit entry but let’s try to put together a full Person entry for him today. To add a little challenge, let’s see if we can do it in three hours. Main focus: Online History Legal Issues Post your research here and I’ll add you as an editor to the entry: KYMdb – Aaron Swartz!
KYM only documents already existing memes. Try submitting it to someplace like 4chan or reddit.
SPOTICUS AND BLANKETICUS SHOULD BE FRIENDS
that’s weird and probably a bug -- do you have hover zoom installed on your browser?
I messaged the person who sent us the survey and asked for more info, but they’re probably off for the holiday. I will let everyone know when I find out~
Here is the survey link! A group of researchers at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany are doing an anonymous online study on why people spread photos online. I just finished taking it and it took about 15 minutes to complete. I don’t think there’s an age limitation but the bigger samples are, the better, so I just thought I’d share the link here
