Yeah, definitely do short stories. I had tried writing novels before but I would always end up rereading what I had written and I would realize that it was complete and utter crap. I eventually got so discouraged with my writing that I actually completely stopped writing fiction in general.

It was earlier this year that I read about some advice from one of my favorite authors, George R. R. Martin, that helped me realize what I was doing wrong. He wrote that new authors should start off their literary career writing short stories because it helps to hone their writing skills and having magazines publish said stories helps make it easier to generate interest in whatever novel they would write. So that’s been my plan at the moment.

I’m currently working on some short stories. I’ve got two mostly done (just kind of editing them now), two in the process of being written, and several more being planned out.

The stuff I’ve been writing recently has been Lovecraftian-style horror and fantasy. I’m coming up with some concepts for some science fiction and surrealist stories. I’m also trying to do some historical fiction as well.

Not much. I noticed the section on your profile where you say that you’re a novelist. I actually do some fiction writing of my own. What kind of stuff do you write? Assuming, of course, that by novelist you are talking about writing…

Hehe that’s pretty funny. Reminds me of an xkcd comic I saw where in the future; you have to send your online date a captcha because bot AI has become so intelligent, you cant tell them apart from real people. But I’m sure the bot appreciated your gesture.
