Since when did the Simpsons try to portray an average American family? When a show plays plays the absurdity of the portrayal for laughs, it’s funny, but The Big Bang Theory doesn’t. It pretends to be “geek culture” and marketing “geeky jokes” that are digestible to the lowest common denominator and fails miserably. I hate it for being an unfunny show that massively overplays laugh tracks to get the viewers rolling with it and how the supposed geek jokes are nothing of the sort. Simpsons advertise themselves as a funny show of a sometimes wacky family in Springfield, that’s their entire fucking premesis. TBBT puts themselves out as a show about geeky humor and is nothing of the sort.

Remember the show “Life” which had them playing Prince of Persia to “level 10” so they could hack the computer? And once they beat the game, YOU WIN showed up in papyrus font and suddenly the files appeared on the screen? If there’s any humor to be found here, it’s how bad they portray the idea of geek to the mass public. They had to canibalize any semblance of humor to the crowd so they could mass market. That’s big market TV shows for you. Thanks a lot, CBS. The Sheldon comparisons on campus are really starting to get grating.

Who is even saying yuri and yaoi are unusual fetishes? Since when is lesbian uncommon for a guy to like? Likewise with yaoi and girls, and it crosses over with bi / gay people. Seriously, with the way some of you guys treat this, it’s like the mere sight of large breasts is enough for some of you to shout OPPRESSION, OBJECTIFICATION, PRIVILEGE. It’s like you guys want to strip all the femininity from females in media. Obviously, there’s a few depictions of women here that are fucking awful, and I don’t support this shit with any gender. I’m an all-opportunity equal hater of bullshit. But some of these that are on Tumblr kinda stretch it, as do a lot of your comments. Of course some of these pictures are going to look wrong on Hawkeye because he’s a male. He acts manly and one would expect that of him. Wearing these sorts of outfits and doing these would look uncharacteristic of him for this. Females typically act feminine and its part of these characters. They dress different and look different. Men are different than women, big surprise. Some embrace the big-muscle manly look as others embrace the sexy nimble feminine look. Is it wrong to be a female? It’s wrong to objectify females, but it’s not wrong to be a female.
