This wasn’t even forced by 9gag. I checked the actual link and the 9gag username of the original image uploader overthere is the same username as here. I read about this on Meme Forcing 101.

I recommend deadpool + banhammer.

Nope, not meme. Chainmail may be worth documenting…but particular instances of chainmail hardly…unless this reaches Bonzai Kitten levels, I’m calling for a deadpool here.

@opspe: The 2 tier process doesn’t necessarily need mods. A group of users, like the commenters on the article, could vote weather said article should be researched further. If a negative consensus is reached then the article is locked. This actually reduces moderation work, as the articles the community decides should not be researched can be automatically deadpooled, or, in the spirit of preventing abuse of the voting system, it can be placed on a priority list so a mod can review the community’s decision faster…

Of course, there would always exist the drawback that new members would feel discouraged, but I believe proposal 1 has a bigger payoff in the end. This would vastly reduce the amount of needless articles.

Quick comment: You guys need to fix your article creation criteria. I think I have pointed this out before, but here it goes hoping management can see it: Brand New Members make a lot of articles on subjects that are not memes. As I see it, this problem has 2 solutions:

1) Moderate new articles so that a mod (or member/group of members) has (have) to approve articles for publication (a 2-tier meme confirmation of sorts). This way mods (or members) can vote on weather an article should be researched further, thus avoiding instant deadpools.

and 2) Just as not every member is allowed to edit articles, not every member should be allowed to create them. Many new members, unaware of any Internet Traditions, confuse the concepts of “image macro” and “meme”, thus creating articles to document their image macros and appearing to force memes, when in reality they are just misguided souls.

I think any of those could improve the community and the content, but I think this merits further discussion.

The really sad part is that he didn’t even get an answer…after everything they might have been through one would believe he would at least deserve a “no”…but he didn’t even get that…

It’s still to local to wrestling forums…but it’s nice to see an article by a Brand New Member which is not based on his own creation…there is still hope for BNMs…

I insist on a point I have probably been spamming everywhere:

KYM does not let everybody edit articles. Why, then, is everyone able to create them? The same criteria should apply. Neither me or my fellow KTMers want to see a (most likely involuntary) 9gag/newfag crapflood.
