That’s pretty much the only argument pro-GGers can win, the other being that the article should not use Cracked’s cesspit of bullshit as a source. But they won’t allow removal of what is currently in the article. They might accept some copy/editing and it might be toned down. But have a look at the articles on Homeopathy or Scientology. That’s the best you’re getting. A well written, carefully worded article that doesn’t attack the subject, but feels negative because every source available paints it unfavorably.

Not to burst anyone’s bubble here, but that is not gonna work either. Editing and discussion might tone down the language a little, but as long as the media keeps predominantly pushing the negative narrative they do, the article is still going to feel negative.

I have warned about this a few times. Wikipedia is held by the media, but not because of some conspiracy or attempt at censorship by admins (although many admins and editors might be antis), it’s because this behavior is ingrained in Wikipedia policy and culture. User Masem over at the DRN thread explains it in very civil terms.

TL;DR Wikipedia basically rebabbles whatever the media writes. As long as the media keeps trashing the movement, the Wikipedia article will look like an attack piece, no matter how many copyediting you do. Not even Jimbo can solve this without severe WikiPolicy gymnastics.

The thing about Social Justice is that you can’t disagree with their (stated) goals, because that truly makes you an asshole; you can only question their methods. But then you get called out on the tone argument and everything goes to hell

Also, they weren’t actually doxxed, no personal information was posted by Milo. It was only a list of names and affiliations.

Finally someone is dropping the gloves. Maybe we can all solve this with tea and cookes.

I am aware he has, and I appreciate it. It just doesn’t fully check with me.

But it’s better than nothing

TBH, I find it a bit hypocritical that Milo intends to write against “politically-motivated reporting” when Breitbart is pretty right-wing themselves…

But we really can’t trust anybody else.

One of these days they will accumulate so much irony that a new big bang will be triggered (pun totally intended)

We should have included Kotaku. I mean, they are regaining ground, but for the sake of completion and disclosure they should be included

It does, but we need a more PRy sounding objective or they’ll keep painting everyone as the devil

And they’ll probably start saying something along the lines of “see? you guys are so evil even hell locked you out”

Most of them revert to the racism argument. Somewhere in their minds they concocted this equation:

Prejudice + Power = Racism

Since neither prejudice nor power are necessarily tied to race, it’s fairly easy to do the mental gymnastics and turn it into:

Prejudice + Power = Sexism

And from this they will go full Olympics and say that there can’t be such a thing as a misandrist, or that you can’t be sexist against men, because women hold no power and thus it is impossible to fulfill the requirements of their equation.

I’ve seen it many times. It’s really fascinating to unravel their mental gymnastics.

4chan usually takes no sides. In a sense, it’s GGers who decided 4chan is now an enemy. But the general public, and anti-GGers, still heavily associate 4chan with the movement. They’ll likely try to play the guilty-by-association over this.

I don’t a lot of people know, or even care. And those who do are probably celebrating 4chan cracking down on misogyny.

Well I browsed the GG tag yesterday and most posts were pro-GG, or at the very least skeptical. There were few attack pieces and most of them were focused on LW2.

They probably wouldn’t care. They serve the japanese market first and foremost. Westerners are just an afterthought and some extra cash.
