As someone who regularly goes to fandom cons (comic-con, anime cons, and even a local MLP con) yearly, the thought of domestic terrorism occurring here is terrifying. Although I’m no furry, I have to give them my condolences. Being a fan of MLP and Homestuck, I certainly know how it feels to be “the odd one out” in the offline fandom world. But I couldn’t imagine anything like this. Man.
Oh no. They uncovered the truth, guys. Their ingenious tweets realized that it actually isn’t about gaming journalism, and it is indeed about misogyny. There’s no fooling Twitter SJWs here, this is all about a cold, hard hatred of vaginas. They have finally unveiled us as what we are, a mass of pimply white boys in a massive underground chamber all promoting misogyny in an attempt to keep girls out of the club for no real motive other than that all girls are icky, which is obviously the viewpoint we take seeing as we are all pimply white boys.
This is obviously about misogyny because the woman who started all of this up used misogyny as a shield for her ethical problems that had nothing to do with misogyny. The fact that gamers have been steadily growing resentful of gaming journalism for years before Gamergate started means nothing. But they wouldn’t know that about us, because we’re obviously fucking nerds. (But remember, not their kind of nerds. Their kind of nerds with Starbucks and The Big Bang Theory and Superwholock are cool and nerdy. Our kinds of nerds suck, and they make a very good point of drawing the distinction because the term only exists nicely when they use it for themselves.)
Our Straight-White-Male-Nerd-Gamer-Christian-Pro-Life-Communist-Brony-Edgy-Atheist Legion of Doom and Misogyny headquarters is now in havoc because of their tweets. We must evacuate.
Flies away using the propeller built into my fedora
This feels like I’m watching a parody newscast that got made for an episode of South Park or something, but with real people instead of animation.
/r9k/ summarized in one image.
Because only a mediocre game would retain an active community that produces constant discussion on the rosters and strategies years after the game’s release, create numerous large-scale modifications per game, and get played competitively at anime conventions to the point where it’s basically considered the unofficial Olympic sport of geek culture. Obviously.
To get the best view, you have to put their choices in perspective. They can either side with the other board, side with the SJWs, or stay out of it. If they sided with the SJWs, they’d be seen as " oh lol white knight fedora bronies." If they sided with the other boards, they’d still make little more of a total impact; and some posts in the thread were actually reminders that the other boards did not help them in the past, outright shunning them. It’s prospecting to a lose-lose scenario, so it makes sense that they’d want to stay out of this shit altogether.
Also, most people on /mlp/ no longer identify as “bronies”; a lot of the fandom’s kind of rebuked that term because of the negative connotation it’s picked up over the years.

I can’t really see how that alone would make you drop Catholicism. I’m a Catholic and I wouldn’t mind the legalization of a state-based gay marriage at all. The only problem Catholocism sees with gay marriage is that it wouldn’t be a real marriage “in the Church,” but that can’t be used as a real objection unless you also want to root against secular heterosexual marriages as well, which no one bats an eyelash at.

That album already got deleted as well.
Shit is fucking real right now.
Even if the rage over this ends, it sadly probably won’t help the fact that “gaming culture” is either one of the two terrible extremes:
-ELITE GAMEBRO MOUNTAIN DEWRITOS COD MLG CROSS-CONSOLE SNIPE CLAN
-DEEP SYMBOLISM INDIE KICKSTART-YOUTUBE GROUNDBREAKING SOCIAL JUSTICE
The way that it is now, you usually just have to pick your poison. But hey. Maybe we’ll get lucky, and the unprecedented coalition of 4chan, Reddit, and even tumblr may be enough to form some triforce that will actually manage to get shit done.
I want you to look at this. This is the actual trending bar as I saw it.
You have six articles here. Only one is an actual meme. Two are feminist hashtags. Two are social justice hashtags, and one is a normal news story that is in no way directly relevant to internet/geek culture.
Maybe this isn’t the fault of Don or Molly or really anyone on this site, but it’s just that this is so different than from what KYM used to be. This site used to be about memes and advice animals and dolan and jokes and the biggest controversies usually came from ponies being uploaded in other galleries. Everything is so super-serious that KYM is just becoming a news site within the context of the internet.
I don’t know if it’s relevant or not, but I feel like a lot of the angst started when the cringeworthy gallery got nuked…
If you were a boy you’d have a completely different set of problems that you don’t think exist.
If you were a boy you probably wouldn’t even know that circumcision existed until your teenage years.
If you were a boy you’d have to adhere to excessive societal expectations of being masculine.
If you were a boy you’d have be expected to be strong and emotionless in every scenario you get into.
If you were a boy you’d be portrayed as cold and stupid regardless of what you are actually like.
If you were a boy you’d have misandrists constantly making you feel bad for the way you were born.
SJWs are hating on one of the most iconic LGBT supporters in modern pop culture.
This is it. They’ve finally come full circle.
Buzzfeed Motion Pictures proudly presents its latest blockbuster drama:
Nostalgic Game of Thrones Transkin Panda Gifs From the ’90s: Part 17
Most tumblr users (a lot of which are the same teenage girls that the SJWs try to “defend”) are just there for the jokes and maybe a few social justice posts here and there to be nice. Most tumblr users don’t go out of their way to be cruel like the SJWs do. Even Karp himself has said that the overwhelming SJW presence kind of sucks.
That being said, maybe Jon saying “retard” wasn’t comedic genius, but he can say what he wants and that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a damn good writer and comedian who obviously cares about people, even if he uses coarse word choices sometimes. Kind of like the Nostalgia Critic, who’s also come under fire from SJWs in the past.
