I think the ironic thing, is that so many “memes” on this sight are lame, forced attemps to start or popularized memes. On It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, this is exactly what was happening. Charlie was deliberatly trying to start his own “viral video”.

PS at a recent Phillies game, a man ran on to the field as “Red man” (green man in a red suit) and was tripped up by the Braves right fielder.

This isn’t so much its own meme, as it is a derivative of keyboard cat.

To be fair, it would be hard to call this a web meme. The truth is it didn’t need the internet to spread. In the nineties, music videos were still popular and invoke parody, despite the lack of high-speed internet or you tube to faciltate their spread. In the absence of internet it would already be popular. Many of the popular parodies (Saturday Night live, Glee etc) were not web based.
Also, its origin is not the internet, its television. If you were to call this an individual meme, then every parody of a top-40 music video would be an individual meme.

It is a very popular trend and the popularity is very apparent on the web, but I say not a meme.

+1 deadpool.
