WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE!? Please post on my wall and introduce yourself. If I don’t really know you or talk to you, I will not friend you. If you are still just embarrassingly sitting in my follow list then it is because I have no idea who you are and I find it awkward. If you seek to change that then socialize!

“I am the one that creeps in the registry
Filling your processes with horror and despair
As I lay waste to all unsaved progress in my path
The cowards bow down and reboot before me
I am the error of terror
I am the fatal exception of deception
Fear me for I am the Blue Screen of DEATH

I’m some 20 something in New Zealand who makes websites

I still love my old school games from the 90’s but today I’m into TF2, Starcraft 2 and Urban Terror. Find me on Steam, same name there as here

Ponies and Homestuck. If you hate those, too bad. But I’m cool with other fandoms too. I don’t like getting into fandom wars
Also Carl Sagan is best pony

I’m into mostly DnB, followed by Trance but I’m interested in most forms of electronic.
Black Sun Empire, Concord Dawn and State of Mind are my favorites. But there’s a few bands I like that are not electro such as Rammstien, Disturbed and System of a Down. I just like electro more.

Sometimes I draw shit. I’m terrible at it.
But hey, at least my pony OC was not drawn with some pony creator program"

I’m all about the code. It’s probably what I’m best known for here
I’m one the people responsible for all the dudes with different looking profiles lately. Yea, I started the trend apparently. All the changes on this page are my work and everyone else copied me.
But visual tweaks is not all I do. I’m a trained intermediate web developer who knows PHP programming inside and out. I work freelance for anyone who needs a website

I browse KYM because its a fast way to follow what’s happening in internet culture. Net culture fascinates me and how differently it works compared to every other culture in the world despite being part of every other culture in the world. Plus I like the discussions we have here

I like sci-fi. But not the “UFO blows up New York” crap, I mean real sci-fi such as Star Trek, Stargate, Aliens, Predator…you know all that stuff from before Hollywood ran out of ideas. Then again the internet is pretty much my TV nowadays. The following summarizes my modern TV experience:

Obligatory profile music (Not autoplayed for your conveni- boom pow pow pow ba bam pa pow pow ba boom pa pow pow ba bam pa pow pow boom budda boom budda boom budda boom budda goddam do I love evil music):

All this can easily be explained with my “Fluttershy on the outside, Pinkie Pie on the inside” type of personality. At first, I didn’t really feel like a member of this community, just like I don’t when I go to a new school or sit on a bus with a bunch of strangers. I didn’t want to really get to know anyone, I didn’t want to talk about myself beyond what was necessary, I didn’t want any of that, just the pony discussion that I dropped in on every so often. I got like 4 pages of wall posts total in my first few months here.

However, once you guise started mentioning me in your posts, and including me is when I started to feel at home at here. That’s when I realized such a great place KYM was, so different from all those other communities. Every one of you users, makes this site what it is. It sounds trite, but I really do mean it. And so I opened up.

I ain’t much of a nerd, actually. I’ll have you know I was the high school valedictorian, head cheerleader, and an active participant within the community, all while maintaining a perfect 5.0 GPA and oh god that makes me a nerd doesn’t it.

I’m popular now, but these things usually come in bursts, you know.

I just noticed all that conversation in Pony thread.
Sorry. I wasn’t checking general boards so much. That’s why i didn’t notice that earlier.

You know, what started out as me dozing off into a reverie about Futurama and ended in a three hour TVTropes marathon wasn’t entirely unproductive. You know those hind legs I messed up?
Elbow talons.

Me? A people person? Yeah umm okay.

You might be on to something. I love talking, but I hate sounding/acting stupid even more. In irl conversations, people (or at least me) just spontaneously throw out random thoughts and ideas that don’t go anywhere and often cause an uncomfortable amount of awkward silences. I do that here too, but can take my time to edit everything so it makes me sounds as kawaii and innocent as possible, belying my true sinister inner nature.

(also I put the program in the archive when the teacher made us clear the ram muhahaha)

And I think that might be the natural way to learn things. It’s just my extremely inflexible and irrational moral codes retrain me not from tracing, for whatever reason. I actually learned Javascript (sorta) by copying other people’s work, reinterpreting it, practicing a lot, and eventually came to the point that although my skills were rudimentary, my creativity and prudence got me far. Same thing with BASIC for graphing calculators. Never did learn how to make anything complex, but I made extensive use of what tools I had available to me, and became pretty well-known as a calc coder (aka nerd) within my school, even though I sucked. I once made this whole suite of formula generators that did all the work for you and ended up getting like 110% in geometry because you could use them on the test. Good times, good times.

For HTML I just did whatever because I was lazy. And now I don’t know how to get a good looking spoiler button on my wall, and make the text in it look all nice and stuff (halp?).

I’m actually spending more time replying to all these posts than drawing ponies, but you know me. I’ll try tracing I suppose. Won’t post here because I don’t want to look like even more of a karma whore than I already am though.

Glad it worked!
Yeah, it is much easier than I expected it to be going in.
As for more tutorials, the same guy who made that clipping vid has a whole series on vectoring in Inkscape: START HERE
I don’t know how you do it, but he even has a video on how to properly export your finished work that really helped me.
I totally screwed up my first project file because I didn’t know what I was doing.

It did sting a little, even if that wasn’t your intention, but no worries, that’s just my hybrid self-loathing/OCD sense tingling again.

For your OC I just followed the circles I redrew 500 times until I got it right lulz. It really does help, even if I don’t like using them.

Well therein lies the problem. I didn’t really learn any HTML by copying you, so I’m afraid that I won’t even learn to properly draw on my own by using reference images. That’s why I’m not tracing for these. I just eyeball it and erase repeatedly until it looks perfect, which is highly inefficient but covers my moral qualms about copying sort of.

Also I did a little shadowy thing for the background legs (I’m not familiar with the terminology), and put the circles in the eyes where they were supposed to be originally but got screwed up by my unsharpened black coloured pencil. Paint.net FTW?

Oh yeah? Well I can tell what reference image you used! Hurts, doesn’t it?

I usually mess up with the snouts and make them way smaller and more bulbous than they should be, so I’ll keep that in mind next time. For your OC I used a reference at first, but then I decided it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, and then the other sitting postures didn’t work well either, so I haphazardly made my own. If you look at the development sketch you can tell how hard I failed at that. Ended up entirely redrawing his hind section.

I normally say a lot of stuff that I don’t follow through with (eg I post in a bunch of threads here saying “I’d love to contribute” and never do), but this time it’s different. Now if I could only drop a bunch of classes and become even more of a shut-in than I already am…

Yup, essentially.
I just had no idea what I was doing when I started so I made sure I watched as many tutorials as I could.
That one was one of the most useful by far.
Hope it helps you, too!

Well, first off, yes there is some really irritating bug in there that totally screws everything up when you ungroup.
I have no idea what’s causing it or how to fix it, so that’s quite annoying and it’s probably contributing to some of your confusion.
It is also discouraging me from going in and fixing some of the errors that have been pointed out to me…

The eyes were done using clipping techniques that I found in this video:

Seems to work very well!

Everything else is just the Bezier Curve/Pen tool.
No calligraphy in there.

Don’t forget about “hidden camera’s!” Or “who’s!” Or “genre’s is!” Oh you adorkable thing you. Now DIE(abeetus)!

Still there? Anyways, care to recommend me any ambient, maybe electronic, music that would help me focus on studying and drown out the high pitched squeals of my ever so annoying roommate? I remember there was this Pandora channel called “Electronica for Studying” but I’m scared. What if Skrillex pops up and then I write the worst paper ever :(?

lol dubstep is mainstream

Fine, I admit I was about 2 minutes into the rawthang song when I began writing it, and up to that point, it was pretty ambient. What happened next though, yeah. You’d think that my extreme OCD with even the most mundane of tasks as making my wall posts perfect would catch something like that, but eh, what you gonna do?
And perhaps I wasn’t being clear. Jamie (no relation) Smith does a bunch of other stuff besides The xx., some of which definitely sounds a lot more like dubstep, though not like Skrillex, which is more or less a good thing imo. For example, this (inb4 needs moar intensity). My apologies if you actually like Skrillex; I personally find his music to be about as deep as an inflatable kiddie pool, and not nearly as fun. Plus he entirely misrepresents the entire genre of dubstep and gives it a horrible reputation. Imagine if the first rock band that came into people’s mind was Nickelback. Hai Skrillex. Enjoying your Grammys?
Anyways, lol electro=dubstep. That’s a bit of a stretch. I guess you could confuse DnB with dubstep if you’re stupid, but assuming all electro is dubstep is about as obtuse as you can get.
No, The xx is definitely liquid indie. And I’m jelly of their talent. I have done absolutely nothing productive with my life so far, and it’s people like them that make me feel like an abject failure.

What are you, the Chris Hansen for Jamie? No pics for you. I need them anyway, and they’re far too precious to even think about exposing to other mortal eyes.
Well, the song I chose for my profile, while fairly indicative of their style, is more of a ballad. A bunch of songs off their first album are pretty head-bobbin’, actually. After all, they do have the famed and amazingly talented producer Jamie (no relation) Smith mixing all their songs, whose work has been categorized by Wikipedia (best source) as electronic music and post-dubstep (and not the horrible Skrillex ear rape kind), so it does sound like something you’d listen to. Really, classifying them as indie pop is like classifying Radiohead as alt rock. Works? Kinda. Fits? Not really.
That DnB track ya linked me, which was btw quite nice, isn’t quite that far off from Jamie (no relation) Smith’s territory. Try this track
Sick beats, max reverb, max bass, max treble, no regrets. So simplistic, yet so deep.
Ambient you say? Prepare to have an eargasm. Also the video itself.

Jamie stalking folder? Psh? Me? Hahaha…

Nah, just curated a bunch of pics from his flickr page. I do have more… intimate pics of him, but I wouldn’t want to look like some sort of crazy stalker person, would I?

Anyways, might make a Jamie pony sometime this week (oh god), but I have to make sure my pony drawing skills are up to par for this.

Also, you should check out the xx, if you haven’t already. Their songs are sparse, ethereal, bleak, ambient, and beautiful, hallmarks of a truly artistic band. They’ve definitely got some electronic beats (their first album has some pretty sick bass), and although it’s not exactly what you normally listen to, I’m sure you’d be pleasantly surprised. They’ve even got a new album coming out in a few days, one that I’ve listened to from beginning to end about ten times now. And counting.

I couldn’t express my feelings for Jamie any better than The xx do in my profile song. Jamie…

May I ask how you get the background to stay centered and fixed? You seem to be using a different variety of HTML, because the things I steal from other sites don’t work.

Well, made the Jamie banner and got the background pic from his Twitter t want to entirely rip off your Starcraft theme, which is horrible imo anyways (needs moar zerg rushes).
