If you learn Python first, I think Java/C# may be easier than you think, to answer your first question.

I learned a lot about Java first before C#. Both use different syntax levels, but are essentially the same thing (C# is a bit easier once you know what you are doing). I haven’t had to use too much C# since, though, so I may have to do a refresher sometime soon.
You are right on your second point. I have Python installed on my home computer, so I may have to start learning that a bit. =)

Python, huh? My first language learned was Java and C#. I just feel too lazy to learn anything else at the moment (Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.).
