yeah, i get it, the internet hates Mitt Romney

Jeez I don’t even know what to say to this. Yes. People who work in advertising, especially those who work for sites like BuzzFeed make their livings by attempting to create shitty forced memes. Now, I don’t want to give everything away, but you should know that this rabbit hole of forced memes and media interventions is one that you might not want to peer too closely into unless you want to get disenchanted.

What bothers you the most about know your meme

It’s not that I’m abusing a function that “isn’t even allowed.” I was the original community manager, so my account is not like the volunteer moderator accounts. Consider mine the prototype. Certain things were not carried over into the creation of accounts like yours. I used to change the board names all the time. It was generally regarded as a fun prank back then. But answer me this: How is it that you guys are able to delete posts that you simply disagree with? How is that not an abuse of power? Also,...

yeah, i get it, the internet hates Mitt Romney

Prior to the presidential debate plenty of people were wondering what the most memorable moment would be. Before Mittens had even mentioned Big Bird, Tumblr already had their editorial staff poised and ready to make animated GIFs out of whatever big moments the debate would bring. And BuzzFeed editors were working overtime to make list posts out of the photoshops they knew were waiting just around the corner. So when Mitt started rambling about how he loves Big Bird but would try to axe PBS, it was...

Here I would have displayed a GIF that implies something about how soapbox rants are far less productive than filing specific complaints in their own threads, but other mods feel like censoring me. Too many rules. Not enough Cheetos.

New Rule for All the Internets

All the outrage in this thread is confusing. First of all, I’m sure no one that works at Cheezburger is responsible for uploading the image. Likely, it was a memebase user, just like how everyone here is re-uploading found images. Second of all, Cheezburger didn’t censor Russian Fedora. He self-censored when questioning the censorship of the image. I think he was making a joke. Third, there are images with swear words all over Cheezburger, especially memebaseafterdark.com. I’m willing to bet that the...

Shameless self-promotion: Post your Tumblrs.

chrismenning.tumblr.com is where I mostly reblog other cool shit, and occasionally post my original stuff. Things I made are at i_made_this. Photos I’ve taken or that I’m in are at of_by_and_around_me.Text In Space is where I reblog pictures that other people have made of words on top of space backgrounds. Have a Tumblr you want to share? Want to plug your own? Do it in this thread.

New meme periodic table Graph: help.

When I saw this get posted on Reddit and BuzzFeed today, my heart wept from all the dumb. Personally, I think Olivia kicked ass on these. Click pic for bigger size. clicky click

OJ did it

Yeah, I wouldn’t call it an internet meme personally. I think of it more as a popular opinion that resulted from nationwide attention and traditional broadcast media that also manifested online. But then again, that’s no different than a lot of so-called Internet memes today.

OJ did it

Lots of people already suspected that OJ was the killer even before the case went to trial. Here’s a compilation of OJ Simspon jokes referencing the murder dated October 1st, 1994.http://www.textfiles.com/humor/JOKES/ojlist.txt This was one month before the jury was even selected.

In light of Google +'s +1, KYM-Tan would like you to know...

There’s a KYM-Tan, Deadpool-Kun, and Submissions Senpai that I know of. I think there have been others. Also, saying “+1 Confirm,” “+1 Deadpool,” and “+1 Wait” was a way that mods would comment on a meme entry to each other to share their opinion of how complete or valid a submission was. Soon enough, other users started doing it, then there was a big misunderstanding among users that they could vote something into confirmation or purgatory. But the comments can still be taken as a general picture of how...
