I am indeed going to a university; SHSU. This semester sucks, as there is math involved, and I hate that. I think I’m doing well, regardless.

I don’tt have any cool stories like that. Maybe some involving some stoners, but that’s about it :/

Add a new layer.
Paint the whole thing black.
Make the new fog layer partially transparent in layer properties, so you can see what is underneath.
Lasso select the regions you want to be seen by the players.
Delete.
Save the map as PDN.
Change fog layer transparency so you can no longer see through it.
Gaussian blur the whole layer at 25.
Flatten map, save as PNG

Oh, and for tech, no I don’t have a list premade. I think I did once, but I don’t use it anymore. Best to just let the players be creative and have the game flow from their minds instead of yours, you know?

It looks very cool! I wonder though if the mountains and deserts are missing, or if this is supposed to be a flat, tropical islands, ocean planet. And is that a little Oz in the corner? :p

Well, how I did the current map is this:

1. Map screenshot of Victoria 2 ingame
2. Shift+Magic Wand all the oceans, invert selection, delete land
3. Decrease image size to 50% of original
4. Add layer below new oceans layer, color player nations into it

To add custom continents, I did the same process, minus the Victoria screenshot. I would draw a continent, delete the land, color the water white, decrease size by 50%, and paste it on over into the oceans layer. The decreasing size I left in so that the “edge fuzz” on coastlines looked the same for the new continents.

To draw mountains, I would use the brush tool and set the fill mode to “zig zag” then blur all of with gaussian blur, radius 1. Deserts are just a simple trellis fill inside a blurred blob. I set the transparency for the terrain layer at 175 so that you can see the nations below them better.

I can’t think of anything else worth explaining. if you have specific questions, ask away!

As odd a naming I have ever heard. And thanks! I absolutely love toying with maps. If it weren’t for the Renaissance and Italians, I’d probably want to become a cartographer. Oh well. :P

Iunno what i was thinking that day. I was depressed, and went about deleting all my accounts.

Only reason I’m still on KYM is because there is a massive delay and you have to send a request, which gave me plenty of time to reverse the decision.
