Eh, just let the fat moron flip a couple more times. Maybe then it will learn to not be so lazy or stupid. Maybe.

No, you misread. I said what’s between your legs DOESN’T matter. I wasn’t even aware that people consider a difference between gender and sex because I honestly didn’t think anything of it. I never looked at someone and thought to myself “That’s a male/female and therefore they must act like ____ and they must like ____!” I look at a person and don’t think anything about them. If I did, I would think “I wonder what they’re like and what their interests are.” That’s all. I’m confused as to why people are making such a big deal out of all of this, and I used Tumblr as an example because they’re the most vocal.

Gender doesn’t matter. That’s my point. You are not a male in the world, you are not a female in the world, you are YOU. You define yourself and the type of person you are. So long as you’re a good person, why would you care about something as trivial as your gender?

Well to put things into perspective I didn’t consider a difference between gender and sex prior to visiting these comments because I just didn’t think much of it. I’ve always thought you’re free to be who you want to be and that your genitals don’t determine who you can and can’t be. Gender doesn’t matter. Race doesn’t matter. Sexuality doesn’t matter. It’s the people that claim there IS a difference between sex and gender, whether it’s Christians that believe homosexuality is a sin or people standing up for transgendered people, that are causing the problems because they’re reinforcing the idea that these things do matter. If you want true equality you have to stop fixating on skin color or gender identity, regardless of if you’re defending or attacking it. I can’t speak for other people, but I’m assuming the others that don’t know the difference feel the same.

I definitely see your point. I suppose I never truly considered a difference between gender and sex mainly because I’ve thought so little of it. I mean sure, there are obviously cultural differences between genders like the old stereotype of masculine men and feminine women, but I never really cared to think anything more about it. Reinforcing things such as “transgender,” while it has good intentions, is just taking us a step backwards from true equality because it reinforces the idea that genders are different and do have definitive roles. It creates more of a gender gap; if you really want gender equality you would be better off accepting the fact you’re a male and saying “I’m a man and I like wearing dresses” instead of saying “I’m a girl trapped in a man’s body.” One is saying the current social norms are wrong and should change while the other is saying the current social norms are correct and you’re the one that’s supposed to change. While I’m not saying you shouldn’t conform to society’s rules, because realistically speaking sometimes it’s better to just assimilate, there are other times where you need to be brave enough to take a stand. Feeling like every aspect of your entire life is wrong, like how transgendered people feel, is a good reason to take a stand, but labeling yourself as “transgendered” is the wrong way to do it.
