I just finished watching Straw Dogs, and is it just me or is Dustin Hoffman’s character similar to Joel Fleischman in Northern Exposure? Both are intellectuals, both go to live far away from the rest of civilization, and both are juxtaposed with the supposedly backward locals. Although Fleischman never has to blow anyone away.
