>>“Your way isn’t necessarily the right way.”

What exactly are you referring to when you say “your way” and what do you mean when you say it may not be the “right way”?

>>“As much as you say you don’t care…”

What specifically did I say I don’t care about that you are talking about here?

I don’t believe that. Anyone could have brought up the fact of the matter, with or without the glitch existing.

I don’t care about the glitch. Why are you bringing this up?

They could have left marriage out completely. That would have been truly neutral.

You’re grossly exaggerating this whole thing.

>>“Because if you want to buy the game to enjoy the game, you won’t really care that it doesn’t have same sex marriage/coupling/whatever.”

This doesn’t really make sense. It is possible to enjoy a game but be unhappy about a few things here and there. No game ever scores a perfect 100 or a 0. They vary.

>>“…instead of decrying it as some sort of injustice and a legitimate issue on par with actual discrimination against gays in the real world because they didn’t.”

I don’t know exactly what most people are saying on this matter, but I know the heart of the Miiquality movement was meant to bring this concern to attention, not attack Nintendo. The person/people urging the movement even encouraged people to support Nintendo by continuing to purchase the game, not boycotting.

This issue all on its own is a small matter, you’d be right about that, but like I’ve said before, it is a small piece of a bigger problem. The principle of the matter still stands.

As for Nintendo, I myself have no reason to think they are bad people. Neglectful, maybe, or perhaps a bit ignorant in the matter, but I never thought of them as meaning any discrimination.

Why are my only options to either accept things the way they are or to not buy the game? Why do you consider it unacceptable for me to want the same things this game offers other people? All some people wanted was to have this one extra thing that other people get to enjoy. That is not unreasonable.

When I said “We” I’m talking about the people in general, including myself, who are upset about this. Do you really need to attack the little things I say? These aren’t important to the topic at hand here. Can we please stay focused here? You’re blowing this whole argument up.

I don’t care that people are simply saying there is a “shitstorm”. I’m more interested in weather there actually is one or not. People on the internet tend to overblow things they don’t understand.

I don’t care if what you say about the MMO is true or not. The principle still stands, even if not one single person were to complain.

>>“Does not having gay couples in the game prevent you from having fun with the game?”

Not totally, but a little bit, yes. I would not be able to play the game like I want to.

>>“Isn’t the entire point of gay people calling for equality to show people that they’re people, too?”

I don’t know what you’re talking about here. How does this issue conflict with this?

>>“Does summoning a shitstorm over a trivial feature in a bloody video game accomplish that?”

There is no “shitstorm”. I don’t know where people are getting this idea from.

>>“Does refusing to have fun over the lack of a trivial feature in a bloody video game accomplish that?”

It’s not “refusing to have fun”. We are disappointed because some of us can’t play the game quite like the rest.

Because they are groups of gay gamers.

I’m sure I could enjoy the game still (I’ve never played it myself), but having all my options would be nice. Relationships are still a part of the game. It is unfair for them to include straight relationships but not gay ones.

Maybe they should have never added marriage at all.

It is still unfair to exclude a group of people like that.

And what are you implying when you say the company is “family-friendly”?

It wasn’t. Look up Poe’s law. There is a reason you need to do satire correctly. It is so you are not mistaken for the crazy people you intended to mock.

Seriously though, this whole thread happened because someone use satire horribly wrong.

You’re not going to answer me. Fine.

There is no “shitstorm”. I don’t know how you see it like this.

I don’t care that the game itself is not “serious”. That has no weight on the issue here.

Heterosexual marriages exist in the game. Do you believe those relationships should not be there?

Actually the whole Miiquality thing itself is over now because Nintendo issued an apology explaining that they can’t do anything about it now and that they will address these concerns for future games.

It’s easy for you to roll your eyes at this because this doesn’t effect you.

It is unfair that they excluded a group of people from their fun game, but even if that wasn’t a problem the principle of the matter is still important.

You’re exaggerating the protest. All they wanted was equality.

And just because there are bigger things does not mean we cannot also deal with the smaller things.

People only want to play the game like they want. Just like straight gamers. You might think it is insignificant, but it’s a little more important to others. The principle of the matter is not such a small thing.
