I think it was more a case of suppressing the traumatic memory…I’d managed to completely forget this (and it was EVERYwhere back in the day).

The baby looks creepy because it falls into the “uncanny valley”--almost, but not quite, human. Zombie territory.

In particular: how do you fall asleep while somebody is doing a tattoo on your face? Apparently, tattooing is quite painful and the face has lots of nerve endings.

Still, it does seem to have touched a nerve on the net.
