We weren’t discussing our favorite shows you know, we where arguing about how MLP is arguably the LEAST like an anime a TV show can get. And personally, that’s why it’s so good.

How is that a logical fallacy? At no point did I say ALL anime was poorly written and animated, only MOST anime. Miyazaki films are what I was referring to as the exception.

What’s so hard to accept about “I don’t like anime except for Miyazaki films, because they have very little in common with the average anime show.”, and what does that have to do with the topic at hand? MLP doesn’t lend much if not anything from those films either.

The Miyazaki films don’t count because they don’t have the same problems MOST animes do. They are the exception.

Define “darker” and how anime somehow has this quality western cartoons do not. The show’s already pretty edgy considering it’s aimed at mothereffin’ 6 year old girls.

That “Significant anime influence” you think that picture puts forward isn’t very significant, there are more Wonder Woman action figures in that picture then anime figurines. And the Miyazaki ones don’t count, hell, I like Miyazaki films.
-
I’m sure anime has had SOME impact on Faust’s art style, but that doesn’t mean MLP has taken significant influence from it.

Yes because out of AAAAAALLLLL that, the only ones that really count are the ones on the second shelf to the top.

Again, how exactly does this invalidate my points?

The animation is great, the writing is great, the characters are likable, they don’t have to resort to violence to solve all their problems, and I’ve seen very little evidence of pedophilia.
See? NOTHING like an anime, and that’s what makes it so great. >:)

THIS knocked MLP off the number one spot on the trending memes list?

IT’S A F**KING CARTOON! For the love of god CALM DOWN!

If someone has some deep personal issues regarding their sexual proclivities FINE WHATEVER! But we are TRYING to enjoy a great TV show, and people like them who insist on sharing the darkest corner of their minds with the world are making us all look like PERVERTS!

Is pony porn wrong? YES IT IS! We can’t just sit around and accept R34 when it does nothing but give us a bad name, we have to show people that just because we are sworn to “love and tolerate” that doesn’t mean we HAVE to tolerate EVERYTHING!

Why can’t someone be a fan of something on the internet without someone else making it perverted and wrong.

I know Lauren Faust is on pretty good terms with the show’s internet fans, but what would she think if she looked to see six metric tons of slash porn pumped out by “the fans”. That’s the same reason most people don’t like furries (myself included).

How hard is it for people to just keep it in their pants, I mean really. This is a KIDS SHOW for f**k sake!

Yah, I’m a fan, but as an animation student I’m also impressed with the show on a professional level. Lauren Faust is among my favorite developers/animators, PPG and Foster’s where exceptional shows and lasted several seasons without degrading in quality.

So I aint worried, Studio B can do no wrong in my eyes. Just look what they did with this previously terrible franchise. ^^
