ummm... overload of pony memes?

She may not be in the background, but the background ponies often have as much or more airtime in any given episode than the amount of time DJ P0N-3 had through the entire season, and they’ve also gotten additional appearances throughout the season. Like Epic Fail Pony said, calling the category “Personality Ponies” instead of “Background Ponies” would make it much more fitting for all of the ponies that would be getting included under this heading. With this, I definitely restate my belief that Derpy...

ummm... overload of pony memes?

So I take it Sweetie Bell is uncontested as deserving her own submeme? What about the idea for combining Luna Game and Cupcakes? should Luna Game just be a subsection of cupcakes or should a “Grimdark Ponies” section be made to encompass both of them along with other content? Either way Luna Game definitely doesn’t strike me as deserving its own meme section. As for the “bit part ponies” perhaps go full alliteration and call them pittance part ponies? We could also just go completely straightforward and...

ummm... overload of pony memes?

Here’s the way I see this breaking down: Fluttershy holding things should probably be expanded to “Pony Reactions” as it has already been expanded to include forms that have Twilight Rainbow Dash, Applejack and possibly a few others reacting to things as well. “X Pony is Y” is good as a standalone sub-meme. It not only has a wide range of material, but has loose enough rules that it has high level of exploitation potential. Fluttershy is a Tree, Scootaloo is a Chicken, and Rarity is a Marshmallow are not...

I like the idea of trying to get more organization to the conceptsof subcultures, but I see a lot of people just tossing out “x hobby = subculture” which really isn’t accurate at all. MLP:FiM is a definite subculture. As someone mentioned, Youtube is a distinct subculture. I believe the entire Rageface comic set could also be viewed as a subculture, though I can only see the Inglip stuff as being contained within that subculture. Much like how a spinoff to a star trek series is still considered part of...
