[Continued]
Nobody knew was was wrong. I was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalopathy later, however, my symptoms were incredibly serve. By now I was bed-ridden and on diamorphine, neuropathic painkillers and psychoactive drugs. That was 4 years ago. I spend 24/7 in bed, can’t go out, have only 2-3 real life friends (and even they don’t want to spend time just sitting in my room). My only company is the internet and forums. My dad has head his 3rd (or even more) affair in my life time. My mother is seriously ill herself, her back-broken due to my dads stubbornness, missing half her breast due to breast cancer, has been in 3 car accidents non of which were her fault. She has graves disease, type 2 diabetes (even though she is under-weight, does not smoke or drink and is vegetarian) as well as other problems. She has to care for me, a 22 year old who should be in his 3rd year of medical school. Not to mention her age and mental happiness, how do you think I feel, having all this?

So, to sum up, if your life is worse than mine, I really feel sorry for you. If not, then thank your lucky stars it isn’t.

I’m sorry to hear that.

However. You could be me. You could of spent your entire life trying to do everything I could to succeed. I learnt quickly I could slide on my ass, not bother to work or revise to get good grades. I achieved what only 7% of 16 year old people get, without doing anything. I then fucked up my A levels, and decided to resit the whole year. During this period I felt very ill and was not believed by my parents, one being a Doctor and the other a Medical Photographer (and above-basic non-doctor medical training). For the next year I struggled on, achieving average grades, but enough for what I wanted. I then spent months working to get into Medical school. However my college never expected anybody to reach these kinds of heights and failed to send stuff on time or do things correctly. This stressed me and meant lots of extra-work. I passed the UKCAT test, a special test to see somebodies abilities beyond school grades, I achieved above-average. By then, I was super ill and it wasn’t until 2 months or so before my final exams my mother started to think I was telling the truth. I spend days in hospital, tests and lots of things.
