I guess my point is, being self-promoted doesn’t necessarily disqualify a meme. I think immediately of fsjal, which became a meme after someone on 4chan baseically said “hey lets make this a meme.”

I’m not arguing that this definitely qualifies as notable, but just that the tone of the article deals more with condemning the meme creators more than describing the actual meme.

The accusatory tone of this article is not really in line with the rest of the site. Plenty of memes get promoted by their authors, doesn’t mean the original post wasn’t hilarious.
