A bit odd that it’s floating around without being featured by White Diamonds. I suppose it was posted as a WIP, but just removed due to never getting a proper background. Still, a phenomenal piece of work either way, and definitely one for the Rarity folder. Thanks!

Honestly, I doubt anyone is truly vain enough to like a character most simply due to aesthetic. I think some people just find it harder to put to words just what REALLY draws them to the character. Especially since it’s a girl’s show. Most male fans would probably prefer citing looks over relating to a character for making dresses or being in touch with her emotions, not realizing that they may subconciously correlate “making dresses” with making other forms of art and “nurturing and sensitive” with not being a total dick. Liking art and not being a dick have a much less effeminate tone than fashion and emotion, so it probably never occurred to some of their fans.

Hmm… not the response I expected. Most people who like Rarity less state the personality as the reason, so that’s an interesting perspective to hear. Personally, I really love her personality, so that’s a disappointing prospect. I can’t say I find that hard to believe, though Unfortunately, I feel as if Rarity’s personality fluctuates more from one episode to the next than any other character, save for perhaps Rainbow Dash.
Now that I think about it, is that necessarily a bad thing? Being the token artist of the series and taking pride in her appearance as an outlet for her art, it makes sense that people who relate to her the most would be more apt to compliment her in regards to her appearance as a result of their own passion for the visual arts.
Honestly, Fluttershy has much of the same thing going on with her. Many of her fans state her cuteness as a leading factor in her appeal. Considering she isn’t the token artist, it could be argued that she’s actually more overrated in regards to your reasoning. However, being the nurturing and sensitive type, it’s possible that her fans actually empathize with her, and just correlate that attachment with her appearance.

I doubt it. There’s a better chance that everyone on knowyourmeme is just Irish.
Also, Rarity? Overrated? Clearly a typo. But I suppose that can be forgiven seeing as how Sweetie, Flutters, and Trixie are all in the right spots.

Now I remember adding you ages ago after an MVM match with Blue Screen of Death. I always just thought of you as the squid guy on Steam, and the Scootaloo guy that isn’t Dead Parrot on here. I’m surprised I didn’t make the connection before. This is practically the only time I’ve gone by avatar instead of name. :P

A pleasure to see you. I remember meeting you ages ago, but never really saw you around. Looking at your stats, I suppose that is because you’re more occupied commenting than using the forums. It was nice seeing you again in the stream! I’ve missed far too many before due to work and school, but it has been nice catching up with friends while I’m between jobs.
And if Valve games are one of your interests, be sure to add me on Steam so we can play sometime! I’m on TF2 a lot. I’ve also got Borderlands 2 and Portal 2, though I’m playing through the latter with my brother.

The last time I saw someone rack up karma like that just for posting one word was Jamie Dubs. I even went back and looked it up, and you nearly doubled his score. You outdid one of Know Your Meme’s co-founders!

NICE. M. Bison is pretty cool, but my brother mains him so I don’t play him as often. But Vega suits my playstyle better anyway, and I dig the character.

Eh, I know how that goes. The only reason I have a good enough computer is because it was part of my college entrance package. I usually just get a laptop since I don’t know enough about hardware to customize a PC, but I was looking getting a gaming one. I’ve heard good things about ASUS. Maybe you should look into those when the time comes to upgrade?

Have you played RE 6 yet? I’ve been trying to see if anyone else is considering getting it on Steam. I’m pretty surprised just how few Resident Evil fans there are here.
I looked for a ponified Barry Burton I could Advancify for the occasion, but no luck sadly. In fact, the one I posted in the forums seems to be the only one. I found Claire Redfield and Ada Wong already as Rarity, though! If you want to stick with Barry, I’ll use the Ada one myself! :V
