Flamerion, are you confusing it with Super Seizure Robots, which were robots with bright flashing eyes on the episode of the Simpsons where they went to Japan? That was based off the Porygon episode of Pokemon which gave hundreds of kids seizures.

The ED entry says that the kitten became famous because of its use as a distributor. I recall back in the murky days of the internet this being the first one as well- I had certainly seen no other versions prior.

Agreed, video game quotes are a bit awkward. I think you need to draw the distinction between what is a famous quote and what is a meme. ‘Princess in another castle’ I think would count as a quote, because it’s a popular line but you don’t really see it anywhere. ‘Dangerous to go alone’ you often find shopped on images and used as jokes, so I believe it counts as a meme.

‘Cake is a lie’ is caught in some strange Twilight Zone, neither meme or quote, like some kind of internet zombie…
