No, not at all. I just figured you were frustrated with the connection issues in the IRC. But I understand why you’d be frustrated with your current position as well. I can be made upset, but I’m generally pretty hard to offend. We’re cool.

Sure. I’ve…got an issue of sorts that may make me a little more sketchy on scheduled matters, so forgive me if I’m missing, but are you available at about 9p Central/10p Eastern? I can PM you how to get in the IRC and chat.

Philippians 4: 6-7, 19
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Jesus Christ.”
I’d say this verse hits right at home regarding your growing prayer habits, how are those going by the way? And do you have any prayer requests?

Once we have a time set, I can tell you what to do. It’s usually pretty simple.

I should be free at any point tomorrow outside of unscheduled requests. If not tomorrow, then I have other times that are free over the weekend.

Well, my schedule’s finally gotten busy in the past couple of weeks (and I’m sure you’re even busier), but I’m sure we can find time to chat a bit. PM’s, wall posts, IRC…just let me know.

Proverbs 27:17
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

So how’re your prayer habits coming along? And how’d your brother do on his finals? And how was the DC trip?

I’ll be sure to pray for you and your brother. And i’ll put the requests in the box if that’s alright with you. Also this:

Well put Mr. Mack, well put. As for myself, I only know so much on the issue as a person who attends a Southern Baptist Church, but subscribes to nearly none of the things that make SB’s different from other denominations (no women preachers? Really?), so i’d say i’m either non-denominational or just Christian (since non-denominational is really a denomination rather than a lack of one). I feel that God needs to be looked at as both a loving father and friend that has your back in every situation and loves you no matter what, but at the same time is a God that could wipe the human race off the earth if he wanted (which he won’t though). Basically, I feel that God should be feared and loved equally, with my preference leaning towards a tiny bit more of fear than love. So I suppose i’m 51% Calvinist, and 49% Arminian, if that’s even possible.

Ah, I see. This is some pretty deep stuff huh? So what’s your opinion on all of it? Do you think the separation is more helpful than harmful, or the other way around? And why?
Oh, and here’s the verse for today:
Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Ha, spell check isn’t much of a help on larger words like that. But I see what you mean regarding the differences between the two. A similar comparison would be the political spectrum, if I took this right. For instance, Liberals are to Arminianians like Conservatives are to Calvinists?

Of course. I hope it’s useful or at least entertaining.

Another week of Bible Study! Share what you think and feel on my wall. Also, alert me to any prayer requests you may have. I’m putting them in their own box in my “About” section. If you have one that you want to keep to yourself, i’ll keep it anonymous.
Psalm 46:10
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the Earth.”

Ah, dude, this is time sensitive material! Haha. I was taking my time in reading, and now I’m a bit sorry I did wait. Although I suppose it required me to sit down for a minute.

Alright, how about this? An hour before you try to go to bed, set aside five minutes to just reflect over your day and see how God’s worked in it, and ask Him if there’s anything you should do tomorrow to glorify Him better. As for myself, I keep a journal and I write a verse a day in it, then write over the previous day’s experiences (I journal first thing in the morning) and analyze what God wants me to do/not do. I also write down my prayers for others. If you’re willing, you could try a journal. I tend to get distracted just sitting in place trying to focus my mind on God, but if it works for you then do what you feel would be best.

And sure! Anyone’s welcome in the Bible Study. As for you theology question, I don’t know too much about it, so what would a Armenian and Calvinist be exactly? Or rather, what’s the difference between the two?

Yeah, Verbose mentioned you earlier, so I knew I was bound to talk to you eventually. I got to a Southern Baptist church, but I really just consider myself a Christian, the denominations overcomplicate things for me. Not that i’m saying denominations are bad or anything, I just mean that the differences between them can absorb more focus than worshiping God.

As for my take on Theology, I think it’s an excellent topic and means of finding out more about God’s creation and love for us. The very fact that God allows us to learn just how He does things and His clever and amazing designs throughout the universe show that this field of study is a blessing for Christians.

I’ll certainly keep you accountable in prayer, I couldn’t be happier to. For starters, i’d say you ought to join the Bible Study i’ve been having with several people on KYM, I post a Bible Verse on each member’s wall every Sunday, then we all converge on my wall and discuss it.

For a good quiet-time schedule, it depends on whether you’re a morning person or an evening person. Which one are you?

Hi there. Sorry for not having responded at all.

I haven’t been around KYM a lot in the past month or so.
“But I’m just not sure that GF had that much of a meta-thing going on back then”
Yeah, I can understand that. It might be a pretty wild hypothesis. So might the “ditto are Mew clones” idea.

It’s just that there’s a lot of creepy coincidences related to stuff like Mew and Mewtwo, Ditto, Cinnabar Island, and so forth. Perhaps I am giving Game Freak too much credit and am overthinking things. It just doesn’t seem outside of the realm of possibility.

So, I’ve heard that Mewtwo is getting a transformation in the new Pokemon X and Y games. That’s a kind of weird decision. And I’m kind of curious about this and as to why Mewtwo is getting a transformation.

But I have accepted that among other things, like being considered hypocritical (or simply less intelligent) for being a social scientist and believing in something I can’t support scientifically.*

Alright. Let’s get to it (before I get more wall posts. Heh.) Forgive me if I step on my own lines from before. My 9-10 day delay is certainly to blame.

I don’t think you’re far off from my own issues, but I think I may have worried you about my daily issues of faith more than I meant to.

There’s always the constant of the knowledge of “what if.” No man knows what the future holds. So I can pray for healing of this lingering illness from the infection I had months ago, but some people who pray for the same healing end up with complications, get stomach cancer, and straight away die. I don’t believe it was a lack of faith on their part. I think that God sometimes doesn’t answer prayers in the way that we want.

But.

I am legitimately OK with that. Due to Original Sin, we’re all going to die, and our own desires don’t trump that. God has a will, and sometimes, a sweet, God-fearing 15-year old girl dies because of a drunk driver. Without things like that, we wouldn’t be subscribing to a faith, because Christianity (in all of its forms) would logically explain off everything. Then it’s a matter of trust and not faith. Or that’s how I’ve seen it.

Since later in high school, I’ve accepted that I would have certain disadvantages in this world, because of my faith. Heck, I’ve told other female Christian friends about how I was hesitant to “round first base and go to second,” because of those beliefs. And they straight up said that they couldn’t be in a relationship that didn’t offer more sexual intimacy. This being from Christian women to a short, black guy who’s already got odd interests. It leaves the “sea” of “fish” pretty small for me.

But I have accepted that among other things, like being considered hypocritical (or simply less intelligent) for being a social scientist and believing in something I can support scientifically. I hate it with a passion, but I accept that.

I didn’t mean to say that I’m not sold on Christianity, but one thing can lead to another, so I guess the sermon was suitable. I just try to figure out what I actually believe and if it matches with what I believe is Christ-like.

That leads me to doubt some things in the Bible. But you made a good point: would God allow the book we use to guide our faith to include things that would be against His will?

But even still, did Jesus ask for there to be a book we use to guide our faith? According to the Bible, there will be those who will claim to be of God when they’re not. Does that time have to be later than now? Could it have occurred even while the Bible itself was being created?

As I think I’ve said, it creates a lot of room for wiggle, and I’m not very comfortable with allowing myself that sort of “wiggle.” As soon as you allow yourself to doubt one part of the Bible, it makes sense to doubt any part you don’t agree with (especially if you don’t think it’s God’s will.). Do you fall back to the “sense” of right and wrong we have as Christians (I forget where in the Bible it says this) or do you simply accept the Bible even if it clashes with that sense?

I have no issue with accepting something that I’d normally disagree with as long as I believe it’s God’s will. Again, I’m sacrificing a few things that will become (or already are) important to me, but I gladly do so. In fact, I think I like that sacrifice. I think it gives meaning to my faith somehow.
