This is how you incorporate They Live in a meme: http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/59307

The band Anamanaguchi is releasing singles for the summer of 2010 with animated .gif album covers. It’s too big to post on here, but the second single, “My Skateboard Will Go On”, is a Deal With It image.

+1 confirm
The degree to which this is NSFW is questionable. The subject matter is definitely sexual and, honestly, if we’re going to think of “at work” rather than “for children”, can you honestly say that people at work wouldn’t know what that face is supposed to be representing? Otherwise, the devil’s in the details here. Unless someone sat down and read the article, there’s not much visually offensive about it.

Dinner – Nope, that’s just another song about File Pile. My friend goes by Lostwars (Birdhouse in your Soul on Reflooded) and the song he wrote was called “Irony”.

Okay, I still can’t find a copy of that song, but here he is on a Filepile member cover of the They Might Be Giants album, “Flood”: http://waffleneck.com/flood/
Note that the website also puts the date of Filepile’s inception at 1990. Whereas the internets today are meant to be as simple to navigate as possible (gotta fix those ADD eyes on me), the 1990’s internets (particularly after Flash came out) was full of websites meant to confuse visitors as much as elate them when they figured out what they were supposed to be doing.
Is it really a mystery? No.
Was it really a website? Yes.
Does it count as a meme? Probably not. So far, I see fairy tales about Filepile with pretty much no content iteration elsewhere on the web.

A friend of mine used to talk about Filepile all the time and, yes, it was a real collection of files on which he was a member. I wasn’t a member, but I had seen him navigate it and show me some various crazy things pretty typical of the internet in general these days.
On one hand, I question Filepile’s memetic value. On the other hand, my friend wrote a song about it. Then again, I think it’s only on a CD I have and formerly on Filepile. How mysterious.

It’s definitely of questionable memetic value, though. Needs some YTMNDs or at least more image macros. I think the problem comes from its lacking a hook. Most memes rely on a simple one-sentence hook or even one or two words alone, while this whole thing is so awful that it could all be quotable.
Commented on My Immortal / The Worst Fanfiction Ever.
This is definitely intentional. What’s amazing is the sheer volume of it. It’s like when novels go meta at the end to make it seem like it could be real. There’s so much of it, you could almost believe someone wrote it without the intent of lulz.
Anyway, the way I see it, My Immortal is a brilliant piece of satire explicitly designed to explain why we don’t have a Hogwarts in real life (much like mythology’s explanation of why there are rocks, the sky, and the planets). Nobody would learn spelling or grammar because they don’t offer English classes after the fifth grade.

Great meme, but is “Bacon is Shakespeare?” really a fail? I thought the Francis Bacon = William Shakespeare debate was still open.
Commented on Invisible X.
My favorites are definitely Invisible Hand and Invisible Onion and Knife. Fantastic meme that doesn’t seem to get played out with repetitive images.
Commented on Kanye Interrupts / Imma Let You Finish.
In the 8 days since Chris Menning posted that there were no Kanye YTMNDs to today, over 200 have shown up in the search, which does not include any that have been posted in the last 4 days, but have not shown up in the search yet, including my first YTMND site, http://kanyeinterruptsl.ytmnd.com
I think the spreading of memes all over has lead to everyone jumping on this while it’s still fresh. I also agree, however, that it’s so big that it will deflate just like the Christian Bale meme.
