You don’t know any of those guys? I was not familiar with the media admins, but I’ve seen them around, and do know the others. I guess it just shows you’re even less active than I am.

Godel is beyond badass. He changed the way we look at formal systems so profoundly, it’s hard to compare his work to anything else. I once had a conversation with an online friend who’s a mathematician, computer programmer, and pastor about the theological implications of Godel’s work, which I can’t recall happening with another mathematician.

British/cryptic crosswords could be harder or easier depending on your skills. (I’m actually proud of the fact I’ve never been able to finish a TV Guide crossword; if I could, I’ve probably watched too much TV.) They require a large vocabulary and outside-of-the-box thinking. Here’s an introduction.

Statistics, unlike most branches of mathematics, is really a form of standardized BS. Statistics very rarely prove anything of value, they’re more of a method of guessing what a large pool of data might look like by examining a small portion of that pool. Whatever you did in that thread was BS, but it wasn’t like you were trying to claim anything of significance, and your result was reasonable enough.

Specialty? I don’t know I have one. I used to work as a statistician, but it was less about the math than my ability to program databases.

Funny, I’ve always been fascinated by those instances in which mathematics takes you off guard. A lot of the work of Cantor is very surprising and counter-intuitive, but extremely fascinating. GAMES Magazine was mainly focused on crosswords (I think Will Shortz was one if the main editors when I had a subscription), and I’m still a big crossword aficionado, especially a fan of British-style crosswords, which use a lot of tricky wordplay. I’m going to have to check out Project Euler.

I’m sure I’ve corrected people’s grammar in the forums, I’m just less likely to do so there than elsewhere. A common exception is when someone is going grammar Nazi on another user and makes mistakes themselves, or if someone is trying to show off their speechifying skills and looks like an idiot; I pretty much feel obliged to jump on those situations. Nothing will get me quite as riled up as someone abusing statistical data, however.

I wanted to say thanks for all your contributions to the site. I had a fun night rummaging through your uploads. Nice to see a older contributing users who are still (somewhat) active. Also, love your profile GIF.

No problem, neither with the late response nor the grammar glitch.

In respects to the former, once I realized I had the correct answer, I didn’t really need a response. When I was in high school, I had a subscription to GAMES magazine (if you’re not familiar, it’s full of crosswords, logic puzzles, etc.) and I realized that I never looked in the answer section, because with a good puzzle you generally know when you’ve got the solution without having to check.

As for grammar, I’ve realized recently that grammar issues in casual conversation don’t tend to bother me; it’s when things are in print or on the Internet in a somewhat formal context. On KYM, for example, grammatical errors in comment sections or the forum are far less likely to catch my attention than in the text of entries. 90% of my activity on KYM in the last six months has been editing entries for grammar, but I was considering making a “Grammar Nazi General” thread.

So, um, what it do? I see you only post from time-to-time, and you were active long before I was. So I don’t really know much about the hold you once had on KYM (I’m guessing it was not as much of a hold as Kalmo had, because he’s Kalmo, but whatevs.) I assume you got a bit bored of the site or got busy though.

Apparently, you were less than three hours from me when I was in grad school if the acronym in your location is talking about a school.

I saw your avatar bouncing up and down, and cute .gifs catch my attention. I had to comment, or I’d have to throw something.

Pshhh you’re doing better than me at least. I made excellent grades in high-school but was never sure what I wanted to do. If I’m going to shell out money for school I want to make sure my goals are set.
As for those reviews, so far he only posts them on Deviant Art (Indefinitely). He’s working on getting sound/video equipment that’s decent. But he does write the scripts etc. with his free time and then he passes them to me for constructive criticism and proofreading. Oh and for the record he isn’t my brother, and by he I mean ILuVKDyEr. I’ve gotten in the habit of that since our KYM days. We dated on and off for about 8 months though, and my sister went to high-school with his brother (KYM’s “Travis Touchdown”). So the whole brother/sister love triangle thing kind of fit in with the act we were pulling on the site since we were all good friends. I’ll keep you posted should he start making the vids…. If you’re interested lol.

Oh late responses are okay, I’m just making sure that my habit of typing really loooong messages doesn’t bother you lol. So you’re in school? That’s fantastic, may I ask what career you’re pursuing?

Btw feel free to stop me from rambling at any time if I’m getting on your nerves. I “work” for my brother as an editor for his movie reviews etc. so I usually take any opportunity to practice writing.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

The second game is kind of a hit and miss with people though. I like to compare the No More Heroes series with the Evil Dead films. Evil Dead 2 was more of a reboot than a sequel and had little continuity with the first film. No More Heroes 2 is even worse. Much is promised at the end of the first game (even that there won’t be a sequel at all, huhh?), but none of it is followed up on. Instead it follows a separate story line from the short film No More Heroes 1.5. Travis picks up his sword once more to avenge a friend, but ends up getting caught up in more than he can handle. All in all it’s a very good game, but you’ll be begging for a some creativity more and more as the game continues. It has some great moments of its own though, I for one loved playing as Henry for a change (Who is a complete bad ass). P.S, I only have a short cameo in it, and then you never see me again :P
(So yeah…. Boooooo….)
