AW YEEE AMERICA
In defense of the forums, we’ve only had a few full-out shitstorms. We’ve had flame wars, yes, and unnecessary arguments spanning a thread, but rarely to this extent. And this one wasn’t actually that bad (it happened pretty late at night with relatively few users). What makes this one more complicated is its implications. Anyway, hopefully these flame wars won’t occur as often in the future because a lot happening lately (not just yesterday), and should be addressed…
At this point, you are trolling and are picking really really unnecessary fights. Some of your posts were not even related to the thread, and were for the sole purpose of arguing and perhaps derailing the thread. It’s like you are trying to argue when people are ignoring you. I have a message on your wall, please read it :/ EDIT: If anyone reads this, I’m not talking to myself; the person who made this thread deleted their post >_>
Don’t worry about it, I don’t have much to do today anyway :P
RE: Don locking the thread. It’s true that there’s a lot to be discussed, but until the admins and everyone figures out how to handle the situation, it is frankly pretty difficult to have a civil discussion with constructive points. I won’t lock the thread, but yeah, I think it might be best if everyone were willing to chill for a while until things get completely sorted out. After that, then we can have constructive? debates. I mean, yes, many of us are pretty upset (myself included), but its...
There was some confusion about this, and I (wrongly) thought that Garlic was testing the moderators. It turns out he was testing “potential moderators,” not existing ones. And I agree with this: @Chris I know why you did what you did but your execution was wrong. He was presumably upset at users chasing out new users and being obstinate about what constitutes a meme. And while I agree with him on some, maybe many points, I really don’t agree with what he decided to do yesterday and in the past...
You know, this is great and all, and I agree with many of these points. But I never heard this as a, “hey we are moderators, and there are some serious problems with the forums and its users. Let’s have a discussion about what we can do, and communicate with the users about how we feel about the forums’ direction.” Instead what I got was a “moderators are doing a terrible job, and the users have absolutely no self control; let me prove this point by trolling, testing, spamming, and threatening to ban...
I didn’t say you can get banned for retaliating. Also, in the example you were using, you posted on his wall, which was okay (except for the autoplays). I was mainly talking about the forums, and I really don’t think derailing threads by getting angry at users is really the best option. Obviously, if you argue with users for (somewhat) good reasons and don’t do it in every single thread, it definitely doesn’t deserve a ban. I mean, you must try really really really hard to deserve a ban for “overreacting...
I am afraid you will use my address to rape me ;_;
See:I can only assume Chris Menning did this to prove a point about how Moderators often don’t ban users for attacking other users or spamming (he specifically pointed out Katie as an example). We don’t ban often because, understandably, its difficult to make decisions about banning high profile members, but if not banning is going to result in the massive spam shitstorm that happened today, jesus christ. We’re probably going to be more proactive about it in the future. Also, you should know that there...
@Mellow I definitely think that users should be proactive about telling moderators about problems, and that they should try to ignore trolls, but goddamn. And I know you weren’t here so obviously its not your fault, but if its a “troll fire drill,” it was really, really stressful. Users were getting really angry at each other. I was the only moderator online with forum modding and banning abilities. I was stressed like hell looking at i don’t know how many threads and comments, to say the least. Several...
Moved to site-related. Here is what happened today, from my perspective. Someone texted me about stuff going down in the forums. I come and immediately, I see this thread. It was Garlic Mcnabb (posting under the name “Fennel Reynolds”) basically bumping the thread over and over again. Presumably he did this because he wanted to make fun of Katie’s large amount of contributions. I locked the thread. I notice that Garlic McNabb is posting “bump” in multiple threads, and that users are getting very angry at...
This place is like a Mecca for Koreans I never get tired of the alien oddities I can eat there :D
My name is OGW and I don’t actually have pink hair :(
Let’s not base threads on making fun of another user, thanks. I’ve already warned Katie about making too many threads in too little time, among other things.
Hey lets insult users and derail threads. Because I’m disappointed with the KYM forums, I’m going to make tons of annoying, unoriginal “X ways to Y” threads over and over again. Clearly, because I am better in comparison to someone who is stirring up flame wars, this is a good idea. Also, because the only mod that is online is generally patient, that mod’s patience isn’t starting to run out.
Because on a day with krama whroring, bumping, spamming, remade threads, mods aren’t generally ecstatic when someone comes in and makes posts for the purpose of stirring up flame wars. I’m trying to evaluate everyone’s role in this crappy evening, and you just happened to be the first to be banned because you posted a lot and fit qualifications for banning. Sorry about that.
This is a terrible thread and has derailed from its original purpose ie lets insult each other
