About

I listen to music. A lot of music.
I do chemistry. Slightly less frequently than I listen to music.
I slack on KYM. When I’m not doing chemistry.

Cheers man. I’m going to do some structural edits first, then add some content.

Hm, sometimes I feel like I’m not as subtle as I think I am.

Thanks though. You and Giga could form an ultra-exclusive club – but I think Nukefire wins the exclusivity prize for having no friends at all. He’s already got the hipster glasses, all he needs is a caption saying “I don’t have friends…”

When I first heard that Skrillex/Doors song, I wasn’t so keen on it. But listening to it again here is making me rethink it. It’s really a decent mashup.

I also rather like your avatar. In honour of Vinyl and, to a lesser extent, ’Tavi (only because she plays classical), have a couple of new songs:

PS you should add more people as friends. You’ll find it quite….magical. (Yeah I went there)

Were you just trying to use a double bass or something? My suggestion would be to go with an ambient-sounding synth pad or something instead of an actual instrument – if you do, it should be long notes that simply complement the melody. The purpose of those is to set the underlying mood of the song, as well as to add some texture to the overall sound. I’m not entirely sure how you’d go about doing that in GarageBand, I’d try loading a synthesizer and then seeing if there are any patches that make it sound nice and bass-y – there’s all sorts of effects and stuff, some of the pads I’ve heard sound really cool.

I looked it up out of curiosity, and ystävyydestä is in elatiivi apparently.

I laugh when my friends complain about having to do declensions in Latin. They only have 7 cases….and they all directly translate to English! Trying to explain partitiivi is like trying to explain the difference between ser and estar in Spanish – it just isn’t easy.

But…yeah. I like languages. Even Finnish.

So that was partly previous knowledge and partly Google Translate (mostly for vocab). I just couldn’t remember how to say “for” and apparently I mis-typed – it should have been poneista instead of ponista I think – declining plural nouns gets confusing. Also I’ve noticed that Google Translate sometimes gets the cases wrong (like it’ll say suomen instead of suomea), but I knew that needed partitiivi, so it worked out.

As you said, Finnish is really hard – that’s why I usually stick to easy languages like French and Spanish.

Kiitos ystävyytesi. Piirustustesi ponista ovat uskomattomia. Suomea on liian vaikea käyttää.

I hope that contain too many huge grammatical mistakes, those noun cases are nasty!

So, if you’re doing a royal-themed song, I’m thinking something Classical will work best, yeah? Of course the complexity of most famous Classical music is beyond any of us (even lolstaz)…but somehting simpler wouldn’t be too hard…

You can listen to some of the pieces (if it’s Classical, it’s a piece, not a song) played in this video – even if it’s the Battle Royale soundtrack. To me they represent a good spectrum of some of the themes you might want to capture in your piece.

Of course, something on that scale is simply not practical for you or anyone to do. But just try to get some ideas – listen especially to the melody/chord progressions, and to the timing of the instruments. Hopefully you can sketch out some ideas and start working. I reccomend you use plenty of instruments for this.

Good luck!
