Actually someone make a kym article before this and it was deleted because the site wasn’t noteworthy enough. But now it is, so they’ve kept the article

I remember a paper I did on the Gardasil vaccine and people were believing it was a government conspiracy because it was a vaccine for human papillomavirus (HPV) that was marketed to prevent cervical cancer, as HPV is the number one cause of it. People found the statistic that 90% of people who get HPV get over the disease in a year and called it scam and also criticized the notion of giving it to boys because they don’t have a cervix.

Except the 10% people who don’t get over it are extremely likely to get cancer wherever the infection happens to be (including penis, throat, or bum hole because… you know) and not just the cervix. And 70% of all people get HPV in their lifetime, so that’s a pretty damn big 10%

If you want to get really crazy, living bodies are incredibly chiral selective for different molecules. So even if two chemicals have the same formula and the same shape the body can react differently to the left and right mirror images of the molecule. Thalidomide is the famous example because it was used to treat nausea, but only one of the mirror images treated it. The other caused the birth defects

For anyone who’s never used a analytical balance, 25 micrograms is waaaaaaaaaaaaay smaller than a single grain of salt. In fact, it really should be measured in volume

It always amazes me how Young Frankenstein was also rated pg even though it has multiple sex scenes

Maybe it’s because Soul Eater Not is a different genre than the original Soul Eater?

No, just like hydrogen and gasoline, oxygen is a reactant. O2 provides oxygen, H2 provides hydrogen, and gasoline provides carbon. It’s the difference between starting a camp fire with wood and lighting gasoline. Wood contains the needed carbon and hydrogen but also junk (like water) that increases the amount of heat needed to start a fire. Earth air is 70% nitrogen which doesn’t take a direct part in the reaction. In a pure oxygen atmosphere, the amount of energy needed to start a fire with something flammable is significantly less because there’s plenty of oxygen to start the reaction. And it’s impossible to get rid of all flammable materials

It facilitates it really well. It’s no different than hydrogen and gasoline. Fire is process of converting carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen into CO2 and H2O vapor

You do realize that doesn’t solve the problem of zero gravity graphite particles fucking up electrical equipment and air filters in the first place right? It only means the fires you start will be less catastrophic. And as this story illustrates, if it was that simple the Ph.D. NASA rocket scientists would have done it

I read a sociology paper about how Asian women are probably one of the most stereotyped minorities. TV shows and especially advertisements always play them up as exotic, competitive, intelligent, and mysterious

That’s shits also not in the book. It’s told from the point if view of journals and Frankenstein didn’t want anyone to know how he made the creature. From the vague description, it’s sounds like he made the creature from scratch and by hand. It was still horribly ugly, but there was nothing inherently evil about its origin

Frankenstein was about people who were afraid of a creation of science because they were too ignorant to understand it and too irrational to learn
