That which can be submitted without evidence can be deadpooled without evidence.
Rin is best pony.
But it’s not coercion. Hisao didn’t force Hanako to do anything, she acted out of unrestricted free will based on her own motivations. Hisao didn’t extort anything or act to manipulate her will; they both saw it as the best action to have taken under the circumstances. I understand the complex and often very ambiguous nature of consent, but this isn’t the face of a rape victim. You can argue the legal semantics of it all you want, but that’s about as concrete an indicator as it gets.
And as for the next point, that’s again presupposing that Hanako feels there’s anything to forgive. It’s been a while since I’ve played through her path but as far as I remember it was very much a joint mistake. (I’d also like to point out that I think making the distinction between what can and can’t happen in the realm of fiction is far too deep a rabbit hole to get into.)
Whoops, got a little carried away. If you wanna continue the discussion then feel free to move it to my wall, I don’t want to spam the article. (Although keeping it perpetually trending would be nice.)
[…] And you could talk about how unpleasant it was for the both of them, but it wasn’t even close to rape. Hanako freely admits that she wanted it to take place in order to avoid losing Hisao. She may not have wanted the immediate circumstances, but she most definitely wished use them in order to achieve the extrinsic goal of trying to keep Hisao.
The scene was a result of the epitome teenage indiscretion, and was on its own vastly unpleasant and romantic, but that does not necessarily condemn it to being a poor literary move. In fact, as a representation of the utter lack of healthy communication present in their relationship it fulfilled its role flawlessly. It may not be immature to consider it bad writing, but it is immature to write it off as such because of an immediate and instinctive reaction without first examining the scene’s context and purpose within the story.
@Brawler Emotionally-charged =/= heartwarming. It’s not heartwarming, not in the least. It’s supposed to be stilted, sad, and feel very wrong. If you look at it as plotted on a standard dramatic structure curve, it’s most likely the point just before the climax, the climax itself of course being the revelations in the park.
Hisao’s intent was to break down the barriers Hanako built around herself, and Hanako wanted desperately not to lose him because she thought he would lose interest if she was only a friend to him, so she had sex with him as a way of trying to get him to stay. It was a poorly calculated and catastrophic action that under different circumstances might’ve thrown their entire relationship into disarray, but the catharsis that followed in the park was integral in their relationship’s survival. To consider the scene without also considering the breakdown in the park that followed it is a huge misstep to make when trying to analyse Hanako’s arc. (Continued)
Julian Q.: Her sex scene’s one of the most emotionally charged scenes in the game. If you’re mature enough to accept it as a brilliant piece of characterization and a great plot device then it should only improve your experience of the game, not detriment it.
Well damn, those two Extra Credits videos you posted in the “Games as art” thread have led me to sink a huge amount of time into watching their videos in the last few days.
In short: You owe me, buster.
@Ponicorn The sun doesn’t obscure objects that are in front of it with such a huge radius, and that’s not a sunset. :p if anything the light during sunset is dimmer because the light has to pass through a much thicker atmosphere to reach you.
I feel like Battlefield 3 should be mentioned here. The sun was your biggest enemy in that game.
MASTER OF ROMANCE
Don’t we already have an article for novelty accounts? Don’t get me wrong, the account’s awesome, but I feel as though this should be merged with the novelty accounts article.
Fuck as in “Fuck, I don’t know what to do”, not as in “LOL SEX.”
Since when has Rin been taller than Lilly?
In honor of KS’s 1-year anniversary the first Katawa Seiyu video, introducing who’s been casted as Hisao, is up. Enjoy!
>not wearing costanza dress
You call that “modern”?
I like how well she’s taken her accidental fame.
Most complete one I’ve ever seen. Golden.
>implying men have it worse than women. Let’s be reality here.
No problem bro
Welcome to the forums! Seeing as you’re new, I’ll give you a free tip: If you put exclamation points around an image URL, it’ll show up embedded in the webpage. For example, you posted this URL “http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/2148/santabot.png”, which with exclamation points attached to both ends of the URL would show up like this
Have fun. :p
When Morgan Freeman doesn’t give a shit, you know you’ve fucked up.
