Commented on Retard Girl.
Duplicate submission. Deadpool.
Also not funny, and an instance of internet bullying. But before you say it: no, that has nothing to do with whether it’s a meme or not. See above.

Yeah, go ahead everybody: be an asshole to this girl. Since it’s the internet, nobody can punch you in the face. All it’ll cost you is your dignity and worth as a member of the human race.

Yes, it is indeed “peace of mind,” unless the person is reassembling their shattered brain or something.

Confirm +1. ’Bout time, in fact.
I’m sorry it has unfortunate racist connotations, but the sight of Little Mac chasing after the coach while wearing a pink jogging suit is just too funny to turn my nose up at this.
By the way, I know this is only just now being added, but I hope somebody soon updates the entry to note the Conan O’Brien / Eddie Murphy sketch that referenced the meme.

This game is less fun if the current artist uses text in their drawing.
Commented on Liberal Douche Garofalo.
I wanted to clarify: I didn’t vote for this to be deadpooled. I merely want to discuss the topic. Inferring that negative reactions mean “omg not a meme” doesn’t make sense. The page says “add a comment,” it doesn’t say “confirm/deadpool votes.”
That said, I apologize that I didn’t see the mod comments telling people to calm down. I didn’t mean to stoke the flames of any anger here.
However, I don’t understand why KYM would allow the posting of political memes if discussion of the politics isn’t acceptable. As long as it’s civil, anyway, with no personal attacks or name-calling.

I am liberal--which, despite what many conservatives believe, is not an insult--and I’ve listened to talk radio where Gorofalo is part of a multiple host show. Let me tell you, this meme IS totally missing the point, and here’s why:
Despite being liberal, I got sick of the show she was on because it had the same fallacies as conservative talk radio. Talk radio itself is the real problem, because the medium discourages critical thinking.
Now, here’s the thing: on that multi-host show, Janeane Gorofalo WAS the voice of reason. All the other hosts were more extreme and less fair to the conservative guests they argued with. Of course Gorofalo usually opposed the conservative viewpoints, but she LISTENED to them.
People who target Garofalo are simply using her as a well-known face to target. Heck, some claim Keith Olbermann is the most liberal pundit on national cable news, but that’s BS too: Ed Schultz is. Olbermann comes in a distant 3rd. Rachel Maddow is further left than Olbermann, and more moderate than Schultz, but she is 10x more reasonable than either.
If you want to find extremist idiots on the left, they aren’t the most well-known. Heck, why do conservatives never talk about Ed Schultz?

P.S. – Basketball was invented by strapping a basket to a pole. Eventually they cut the bottom out, and then eventually they replaced it with a hoop. So at least there’s a REASON it is called basketball, and face it, we need more unique names for sports. About half of the sports on earth involve moving a ball with either your hands or your feet.

This doesn’t seem right to me. I was always under the impression that America was the odd-man-out for calling it “soccer.” To my understanding, Germany, Portugal, France, Spain, and Britain all call it “football,” being as it’s the most popular game to revolve around kicking a ball with your foot.
…But “soccer” is a perfectly nice second name for it. I agree that the real silliness is the name of our American football over here. Yes, about once every 30 minutes or so, ONE player kicks the ball (egg?) once, but about 90% of the time the ball-egg is in someone’s hands.

Commented on When Did This Become Hotter Than This.
I clicked on this because I was surprised to hear that it could be called a “meme.” As it stands, I’ve only seen the original and one variation. It seems to be too small of a collection of parodies to be called a “meme.”
I vote Deadpool unless more examples (widespread ones) can be found.

Commented on Night of Nights / Night of Knights / ナイト・オブ・ナイツ.
“(The direct translation from the Japanese katakanas = Na I To O Bu Na I Tsu) to some extends”
Just wanted to make some semantic corrections…
1. “Translation” should be “transliteration” since ナイト・オブ・ナイツ is simply “Night of (K)nights” spelled out phonetically. Converting it back into Roman lettering as “Na I To O Bu Na I Tsu” is technically correct, but very misleading/confusing.
2. “katakanas” should be “katakana.” You can’t pluralize “katakana,” since it is the name of an alphabet.
3. “to some extends” is probably a typo and should be written as “to some extent.”
Commented on The Legend of Zelda.
The thing is, KnowYourMeme is absolutely inundated with shows, movies, game series, and events that are not memes in and of themselves, but have memes that stem from them. In that way, KnowYourMeme has largely become a repository for any event/product/etc that has wormed its way into the mainstream consciousness, which essentially means any notable current event or popular media eventually finds its way onto the site.
While I agree that KYM probably tries to contain too broad a base of information, I don’t think The Legend of Zelda is any less applicable than most of the “subcultures” KYM covers.

This isn’t funny. Why is it we can’t have a meme with a black person in it without some idiot making a stupid KKK reference? You may think you’re being clever, but your humor boils down to “durr hurrrr he’s black.”

Are you kidding? Calvin totally had a huge crush on Suzy, even if he didn’t realize it. That’s the only reason he tormented her so much.
Anyway, I’m a longtime Calvin and Hobbes fan and I loved this picture.

Yeah, it’s a meme, as far as I’ve seen, but I just wanted to comment that at least half of the anecdotes listed are just simple whining no matter how you look at them. :)
Haha, true: arguing about meme confirmation (or indeed, arguing about any internet hobby) is most certainly “First World Problems.”

This would be a much better troll if it attributed the quote to Madonna.
