I’ve said it before, this guy is a master-level troll. We’re only listening to his half-decent music because we used to think he was mentally impaired. I listen…out of respect for his genius.

I don’t want to be a stick in the mud here, but for a poem about education there really shouldn’t be so many grammar issues. Unless he’s being ironic, I don’t know. Also “Mark Zuckenberg” went to university and dropped out because he was already perfectly comfortable building a product using technology that is only formally taught at universities. If you do university work in your free time, that’s not the same as becoming a billionaire “without going to university”.

Sure, it’s not for everybody; there are plenty of ways of being successful without going to tertiary education. I disagree, however, with using Jobs and Zuckerberg as examples. They were highly skilled, highly driven individuals who did go to university and did use what they’d learned there to become successful. For example, Steve Jobs audited a calligraphy class at university without enrolling; he used a university education and consulted with his university professor to design the fonts that made the Apple II so famously easy on the eyes.

The Albert Camus extract makes this infinitely more effective. Congratulations on perfecting this macro.

That april fools video makes me want to die. It’s like layers upon layers of trolling, intentional or otherwise.

Why can’t we just have regular boxxy. that’s all anyone wants. ear to ear smile, eyeliner, side-part hair. If we could just have one more time, everyone would be happy and this can stop being a train wreck of a meme.

Here’s the link to the interview that aired on national Australian TV program (A Current Affair) around an hour ago.

In reference to the 20 minute TED video…It can be scary prospect, for sure. The idea of independent technology is worrisome but ultimately, i think we’re going to be okay and here’s why: A computer can’t better itself beyond the capacity that a designer has provided it. Computers can’t evolve because computers can’t design. They can ‘self replicate’ but what’s replication without evolution? I think there’s something to be said about culture that Dr. Blackmore disregards entirely: It’s important that we carry on these ‘useless’ memes like folding toilet paper or wearing glasses around our neck, vital in fact because they really aren’t useless. Memes are pure ideas, born from the mass of otherwise objective data. where do they come from? who dictates what is or isn’t “funny” or “fashionable”? Productivity is only half of why we invent. the other and most intriguing half is the will to satisfy our insatiable need to surround ourselves with aesthetics. The concept of aesthetics cannot be learned or programmed. It is why we are where we are as a species. The old saying goes “necessity is the mother of invention”. I disagree entirely. As a biological species surviving on this planet, we don’t NEED anything yet we invent constantly. No artificial intelligence will ever be able to process aesthetics because aesthetics are illogical; computers, conversely, rely on logic. Our imperfection is our best and most unique trait. I say go ahead with the third replicator.
