Okay, so there are more variations than the ones that are mentioned. But it just doesn’t scream “meme” at me. But hey, that’s my opinion.

This is not entirely true. If I remember correctly, this was only for the first series of Pokemon, therefore, they would identify one of the original 150 Pokemon. Now in the current Pokemon TV series, they no longer do this.

& not only is it a popular Japanese Anime, but it is definitely, extremely popular in America, even to this date.

Although it will be admitted that this is a fairly popular flash animation, there no multiple remakes of it. Two or Three remakes, or animations that follow the same pattern does not make this a meme.
