This upload is ass! ….Glorious! Glorious ASS!
Glad to see this reinstated to Greenlight even if I have no desire to play this game. If I want to play a game from a European dev where I unapologetically slaughter the good guys/innocent people and just be an overall menace to society I’ll play the infinitely superior and fun Payday series from Overkill Software. Which begs the question. How is it that you can have a game where you obliterate wave after wave of law enforcement officials, take CIVILLIAN hostages, cook meth, haul contraband (doing all of this for nothing more than the sake of self-gain) and NO ONE bats an eye/calls for it to be pulled from steam? Hatred’s only offense in my eyes is that it tries waaaaay to hard to be edgy, that is all.
Gr8 H8 G8 M8 I r8 it an 8/8, and I know lots of people will be ir8 with its premise but I find their reactions a bit l8, if not a tad overr8d too.
I <3 bad girls of the night! :P
Hey man just wanted you to know i got around to posting my reasoning behind my thoughts on anon’s argument. WAAAAAY to long to post on here. Sent you it as a PM instead. Its better (and a helluva lot cleaner) that way. ;-P
If you genuinely want to know I can explain it but it would probably take multiple posts to do so given KYM’s character limit.
Nah Pinkie was off almost as equally as she was on this season. It just felt like something that was more miss then hit cause it was a unfortunate trend of hers that started and carried over from season 3.
When she was on she was spot on! (Pinkie Pride, Power Ponies, Pinkie Apple Pie, Maud Pie etc). When she was off she was way off (Trade Ya, Filli Vanilli, Rainbow Falls, Castle Mane-ia etc). Seasons 1 and 2 had a more consistent “hold” on just what Pinkie’s character was and tight-rope-walked a fine line between spastic fucktard, and witty (overbearing yet lovable/well intentioned) hijinks.
Damn the false equivalency is stronk in this one.
Enter Lauren Faust in 2010 with a promising but ultimately doomed to fail pitch for her Galaxy Girls Doll line at a Hasbro meet n greet. She impressed upon them her expertise in making a product that could sell to little girls but it wasnt something that Hasbro would own outright so they declined, instead offering her a chance to reboot and jump start the ailing pony franchise. Know the same BS of previous failed pony generations wouldnt fly they allowed Lauren a wide birth and creative controls rarely seen from the Toy Mogul. Hasbro new that in order to get their floundering IPs of the ground they’d need to make an interesting product FIRST and then sell people on it later. So when I hear this “puny is 4 teh marketing of toys fer teh munniez” well…..it isn’t as factual with Generation 4 as it was with other generations in the past. I believe this attitude of comprimise between owner and creator is what led FiM to become what it did…..that is until Hasbro found stupid again, and became the farmer who killed the goose who laid the golden egg. I guess what they say IS true, Old habits die hard. :(
Even then it wasn’t pushed as hard by Hasbro. See what a lot of people either don’t know or wont admit is that when Hasbro came to Lauren with their plug to have her reboot the franchise the quality of the show in both name and brand recognition was in the shitter. And Hasbro’s frantic marketing abuse regarding the IP PUT it there. Hasbro full and well knew this, having seen first hand from their own sales reports, a continuing slump in girls toys sales with the mlp brand and eventually outright disinterest in the product as a means of entertainment for young girls.
Always a joy to see Andrea smiling and ecstatic. She does so much to brighten up so many people’s days so when she is presented with a piece of artwork like this and genuinely gets excited for it its nice to know the community can give back in some small way.
“It’s like setting “O Fortuna” to a montage of the wonders of nature, and then immediately switching over to a guy eating a nice cream sandwich with the music still playing.”
EXACTLY. Gee its like they made the original trailer specifically for Twilight and then just copy and pasted the other 5 over it when doing theirs…..
Well it still holds merit. In fact I’d argue the more of these release and we get to compare how each trailer portrays its respective pony, the more obvious the disparity between Twilight and her friends will become apparent.
Go back and watch Twilight’s trailer and then compare it to this one. How the narrator gushes on and on about Twilight’s accomplishments, destiny, journey and blah blah blah to the heavy sound of such gripping music. Now watch this one again and see how outright bizarre something so mundane and normal as Pinkie’s introduction could be framed by such an “EPIC” accompaniment of instruments.
That’s why some of the best episodes imo have been the ones where two of the mane 6 square off in a conflict that reflects each of the respective ponies elements (aka the morals and principles they are attuned to biasing them to a single line of thought) and watching them overcome previously conceived notions of what friendship was and learn to accept and understand the value in seeing things from the others point of view. A good example of this working really really well is Look Before You Sleep, a bad example of this failing really really miserably is Bats! And really that’s what has been the problem with season 3 onwards. Its finale overshot its own point of existing: to bring us a show of ponies GROWING and LEARNING from each other! Ever evolving their characters social interactions to the point where all of the mane 6 TOGETHER would arrive at a final destination of knowledge and understanding equals in their adventure on the road that was their bonds. But nope Hasbro marketing department had to get the sales into the black sooooooooooooooooooo fuck your painstakingly crafted friendship dynamic of 2 1/2 seasons buy our Princess Merchandise!
Eh if it was that straight forward then MLP would have been a boring as hell show to watch and never would have gotten off the ground. If anything each of the 5 taught Twilight their respective element of friendship which means the respective ANGLE on how they viewed a friendship. Given that when each of these single elements of approaching angles are brought together the result you get is friendship (both literally and figuratively) you can say that as a team these 5 taught Sparkle but its a really big stretch to say that each of them knew WHOLEY what friendship was all along………..uuuuuuh no……………..that’s NOT why we watched the show. We watched the show to see 6 ponies grow and learn from each other each seeing friendship from a different angle with the help of the others.
really, cant they just release like the first 13 episodes in the winter time of 2014 and take a 3 or 4 week break like they did with season 2 and give us the rest later in the spring like they originally planned?
This season already has enough pressure on it now to be good as the only reason i can think of that they would have it delayed this far out (without it being delayed due to things like EQG 2) is that they were really taking there time crafting a season long story arc (a REAL season long story arc this time) and make sure the animation was tip top shape. Anything but that is gonna really come off as disappointing if we get things like the Breezes or Daring Don’t again… :/
Glad to see that it isnt just the shows writing that is beginning to suffer. Not that i really keep up with the comics though. I guess this story is an arc that will probably end up falling “outside” of the official cannon of the show.
Pre-season 3 twilight was perfect in that middle ground as a character who both had something to learn about herself, but more importantly others to learn FROM. As a princess there’s no where to go from there in what she learns from others, hence the elimination of the weekly letters to Celestia not to mention a break down in the dynamic between the mane 6 and there interactions with each other. It really shouldn’t be seen as a coincidence in season 4 that when episodes were to focus on the other ponies they ended up bringing in OUTSIDE forces (the likes of cheese sandwich, coco pommel, etc) because what used to be a carefully crafted dynamic by Faust was up ended with a hastily thrown together marketing ploy to sell more toys in the guise of a finale at the end of season 3. The closest I felt we got to getting back a glimpse of the old twilight was Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 and even then we saw TS in a MENTOR role instead of being someone who would learn ALONG with her friends. Now? She just preaches.
Well, yes she should. But if all they can do is pump out another story about how awesome Twilight Sparkle is then you just comeback round to square one of the bigger problem people have with her. That being that in her current form, Twilight receives too much attention as pony Jesus in the universe. She’s in character limbo as it were. Either relegated to a subdued background of the mundane and ho-hum, OR the totally in your face its all about me and what I do, center of attention that McCarthy and Hasbro would prefer audiences have her to be (cause that’s easier to sell for the latter and easier to write for the former). Left with these two choices and no middle ground to really reconcile Twilight’s character on I can see people accusing the show of losing its balance between the 6 ponies, as something holding merit.
Actually she was in plenty of episodes but her character had been so subdued in season 4 for a time it was getting to the point that she was considered by some in the fandom to be Princess Cadence 2.0. Also I’m not sure who you’ve been talking to or for even how long you’ve been in the fandom but The Best Night Ever is held in high regards amongst most. It doesn’t have half the divisiveness that S2 or S3 finales had which is why it probably gets talked about the least, maybe leading people to think it isn’t that well liked but it most certainly is viewed with a fondness by the fandom.
What were you exactly expecting to happen!? The ride NEVER ends!!
