About

I am a cartoonist, both online and in print, and a writer. I am a Christian who’s passionately in love with my savior. I am an amateur internet culture analyst who would love to be more than an amateur. And I am happy to help you in any way I can; just feel free to ask.

My Favorite Memes

My Fandoms

• Sherlock – This is my favorite television show so far. It’s phenomenally acted and written, and it keeps me on my seat.

• Doctor Who – I just love how silly it is.

• Homestuck – I care too much NOT to be involved. My favorite characters are, in descending order, Terezi, Gamzee, Rufioh, and John.

• Superheroes (DC specificially) – Loving comic books means that superheroes have to be right up my alley, and I do really enjoy them. My top five in descending order are: Green Arrow, Question, Batman, Deadpool, and Angel (X-Men).

• Legend of Zelda – I’ve been playing them for years. Zelda is one of my favorite game franchises to date.

• Ace Attorney – So well written and immersive.

• Professor Layton – UGH SO GOOD. I already love puzzle games, and the stories are so cute in these games that I can’t help but love them.

What’s On My Mind

I’m in one of those moods because I keep getting reminded of Arrow which I hate passionately and I just want to find a friend who also hates Arrow so whenever I feel bad about it I can go to them and we can be supportive of our mutual hate

All joking aside. A user is usually happiest when they have an avatar that represents who they are.

Green arrow sounds perfect for you, but I doubt he would do an internet poll if he should shave his head or not.

That’s funny but expected about a website that researches memes, and other internet phenomena.
It’s usually best when a person has an avatar that represents them.

I noticed you changed your avatar a while ago. I just never looked closely at it until now.

That makes sense. Also, if you had a rebuttal, I’d still like to hear it. Unless you feel like it’s of no benefit. By the way, if you’ve been following me and Patrick’s exchange did you see any references to Katawa Shoujo? He mentioned you’d played it and I’d like to know what you thought…(Patrick, if you’re reading this, don’t tell him what he’s in for.)

And ultimately, I believe that a totally depraved man, when shown by God (again, God had to take the first step in the process of Salvation) how empty he really is, and how glorious God in Christ’s sacrifice is, will have no other choice to make but the acceptance of Christ. There is no other choice because none other is needed. Faith is not necessarily a cold edict of a harsh ruler but a gift. It isn’t the by-product of a choice I have made because I am powerless to choose God left on my own. It’s wholly the gift of God, who saved a totally dead man.

So there’s my Calvinist theory. Sorry if it got too technical, and please understand that I know I could be wrong. But this makes the most sense to me. Thoughts? Specifically, what do you make of total depravity and irresistible grace? And further, why?

I see. I think free will is far more a matter of perspective than anything else. We have a choice between two outcomes, for example. We choose option a, but that choice is unavoidable based on who we are, what we have been through, etc. That’s not to say that we’re robots; we still make whatever choice we do. But it’s based on who the individual has been and is.

What does that have to do with faith? Well, I’m not going to say that God actively caused me to go to Denny’s for lunch yesterday. I think that some choice is made, but it’s all under His sovereignty. So God allows things to happen based on whether or not He deems them ultimately, even if not till the end of time itself, meritorious in bringing about His glory. That certainly raises an interesting question, though, doesn’t it? Because if God is sovereign over where I eat, then surely He’s also sovereign over all of the beheadings, genocides, wars, and calamities of the world. And that’s a topic best suited for an entirely different discussion.

Also I think I’d define “free will” differently than you.

I certainly believe that God has an active role in individual lives. My reason for being Calvinist, though, is in response to the question, “who is sovereign in the universe?” The belief comes from Jesus saying “You did not choose Me, but I chose you.” Further, I don’t think salvation itself is the end goal of Christianity; I think that the Glory of God is. God is the basis of God’s actions, because He is the beginning and end of all things, not mankind. If salvation were dependent on men, man would be ruling God. And since man is totally depraved, he NEEDS God to be able to be saved. God has to take the first step because we are dead. The dead can’t raise themselves; God has to light the fire.

Anyway, that’s a general overview of my version of Calvinism. I know you didn’t ask about it, but there it is anyway. I get the whole “God not wanting robots” thing, too. I think there is a degree of choice (sort of) because I think we’re required to surrender to Him.

Thoughts?

Anytime, eh? How about RIGHT FREAKING NOW?

Seriously, though, I just think it’d be cool to know what led you towards your view on free will and salvation. What verses would prompt you to this line of thinking? What is your definition of “free will?” And what was your turning point in accepting a more Arminian (though not exclusively so) philosophy?

Oh, but I’ve seen others get deleted after a while. I’m guessing the op’s of those memes delete the entries themselves, right?

Unfortunately superhero comics have never been all that popular here in Finland, so I haven’t really read them, much less drawn in that style. The only one to have done relatively well with the artstyle you’re looking for, is The Phantom, which is nonetheless very unfamiliar to me…
