I added your link and I do like your stuff! I just want to emphasize what verbose said, people uploading your stuff doesn’t mean they’re taking credit for it. Don’t be afraid to politely ask them, a moderator or me directly to edit in your source. You can always just directly upload your stuff to save time and then you don’t have to worry about anyone else getting to it first :)

I won’t get too involved, so I’ll make it brief (and I’ll post it on multiple people’s walls:)

The logic and justification for uploading someone else’s images come secondary to the creators’ wishes. If a person claims that an image is theirs and can provide proof, then the uploader must get permission from the creator to upload it.

In practicality, the creator of the media often doesn’t care (or more likely doesn’t know) that their art is being uploaded to KYM. So this issue doesn’t come up very often, even if it is against KYM ideals.

However, even if you’re exposing the creator’s art to other people, it is not the uploader’s art to distribute nor does his reason for uploading someone else’s art trump the wishes of the creator. It is the original creator’s decision as to how to distribute the art.

As soon as the creator can prove that it is their art, then the uploader needs to tag/source/remove it as the creator sees fit. Otherwise, the creator can “Claim Authorship” or contact a moderator, where the moderator will edit/remove the image at the creator’s request.

>Actually, by not citing a source, you are taking credit for it.

No, I’m merely exposing the artist’s work to more people.

>I attack your opinions because you think it is okay for you to copy my stuff without asking and without citing a source, which it isn’t.

See my above point. And once again, please tell me what image of yours I’ve uploaded and I’ll remove it immediately.

>Actually, they wouldn’t. I checked what I wrote and every additional comma would be wrong.

Fix’d: You have no right to complain about My Little Brony banners. People like you constantly steal my stuff and upload it somewhere else without crediting me, it’s the very reason I leave it there in the first place.

>Also, let’s not forget what this is about: You complain about banners when they are a good way to prevent that an image gets uploaded somewhere twice. You are completely ignoring my original point and instead trying to justify plagiarism.

See Joe/Crazy’s explanations below.

>I don’t need your help with that.

Well if you could kindly point out to me which image I uploaded that belongs to you, I’d remove it immediately. And most artists do like people to share their images, it exposes their art to more people so that they can appreciate it, which is the intent of most artists.

>It doesn’t work that way. You can’t withhold the source until somebody asks for it. Besides, you have uploaded 5606 images. Are you telling me you could tell me where every single one is from?

I can and I do. Most viewers of the kym gallery come here to view pictures, have a laugh/feel, and then move on. They hardly ask for a source, and when they do, it’s usually for some very beautiful picture or a funny comic, not some mlb watermarked image with a rage face on it. You’re correct in assuming I couldn’t provide the source for all 5606 images, but if someone asked for the source I would try my hardest to find it. Most of the images I post are from Derpibooru, so I can simply enter in a few tags and follow links to the image’s source.

>So?

Here I’m telling you that I’m a victim of someone else taking actual credit for my work, not just uploading it to some other website. If someone did upload it to another website (which they often do) without taking credit for it, I’d be completely fine with that.

Let me add to my first point, very quickly:

My Little Brony banners are something special. Closely look at the two gifs Joe just posted, and you’ll notice that they are actually intrusive. The banner isn’t a simple add-on to the bottom of the image, it actually COVERS part of it. It’s not extremely noticeable, but it is now a watermark. MLB doesn’t have the right to watermark images that are not theirs.

Oh boy, an argument on the internet! Can I join in?

Banners can often be annoying, especially from sites like 9gag and MLB that throw them on everything. They’re not really all that necessary, as most websites can easily utilize a reverse-image-search now. If someone has the intent to repost something, they’ll do it anyway. Oftentimes, it also makes it rather difficult to find the original source of an image – taking away some of the original artist’s potential viewers.

As for Advance posting your stuff.. I’ve looked through your images. Most of them seem to be reused memes, vectors, and screenshots, with no sourcing to the original artists who took the time to vector them. They’re not yours, the artist likely hasn’t given you special permissions, and you do not have the right to claim them.

Finally, ragefaces. I agree with Advance that they’re annoying. It’s the equivalent to have someone hold up emotion cue cards to a live audience. Hey! Here’s how you’re supposed to feel about this! I usually just keep my mouth shut on the matter. He does, however, have every right to speak his opinion on them. He’s not attacking you personally, so don’t take it like he is.

Take for instance; this lovely gif.

Looks nice and clean, a spiffy gif indeed full of great, smashing times.

And then you have this.

A banner at the bottom, not even animated; taking away from the whole point of it being a gif. The sudden change of colors also looks gawdy, and it’s shoving the website in the picture’s lower regions. I don’t want to see that advertising shit. Living in America, I see it constantly, and it gets old fast. On the internet, I just want my damned ponies. Not some cancerous site it came from.

I don’t hate rage faces, I just think they’re overused and unfunny. They were cool a few months ago, but nowadays they just annoy me.

I don’t steal your stuff (assuming I’ve uploaded any), I post it here for all to see. And if someone likes it and asks for a source, I give it to them. In the past people have taken stuff that I created and uploaded it to mylittlebrony while taking credit for it. I never take credit for anything I post here unless I genuinely made it, and I hardly take credit for that, too. So please don’t make attack me and my opinions. Also, try to use more commas in your sentences, people will take you more seriously if you do. Please don’t take this personally, It’s not in my interest to cause a dispute.

What the fuck did you say about my wife, you little bitch? I’ll have you know that My Little Brony “banners” do take away from the images worth, as the same does with any other website. It’s the fucking internet, who gives two fucks about where it came from. It’s just a cheap and hokey way of advertising. (insert rest of the copypasta here)

I got your contact form submission requesting a source be added to a MLP/Sudden Clarity Clarence photo, and I remembered seeing your name before so I figured I’d give you a follow :)
