I liked that “Your ex-lover is dead” song. It does what a lot of what I feel a lot of modern music fails atrociously at, and that is the smooth incorporation of all musical elements. All the instruments and how they’re used fit really well together and the way the sections are organized is very musically pleasing. Good show.

It’s in C major by the way.

As far as your question about the cadences, it’s less a question of “Can you do it?” and more of a question of “why would you want to?” cadences are typically used to create a kind of “question-answer” feel to the music where you play one or two weaker cadence in ‘question’ before finishing with a stronger cadence as ‘response’. Playing off a bunch of deceptive cadences would likely begin to irritate your listeners with your staunch refusal to resolve to tonic, and finishing off with a half cadence, the most incomplete sounding cadence of all, would be like cock teasing a guy at a bar all night and then not letting him fuck.

I’m not you have to disregard the idea entirely, just don’t use it without good musical reason. If instead of ending the song on the half cadence you use it as a way to transition to another section, that could work, or if you want to try to write a piece that communicates a sense of unresolved tension you can try it, but unless you know what you’re doing, it’s probably just going to sound bad honestly.

>implying music is real art

Yeah, I don’t blame you. Voice work sucks. Every now and then I tell myself, “This fandom could use a good Braeburn voice actor. C’mon, you know you have it in you.” Apart from my lack of any microphone aside from my laptop and phone, I just can’t do the whole “get into character” shebang, and I get down when my voice doesn’t sound exactly like it does in the show. I’ll admit it’s harder than it looks, but I feel like if it’s something you’ve had practice at you could do it in no time at all.

What kind of music are you trying to make? I know exactly squat about music so I’m not asking this in a I’m-trying-to-be-helpful kind of way, I’m just curious.

Hey! You’re a girl!

Seeing as this is the case, how much would your voice happen to sound like Rainbow Dash’s? I need a couple lines (only a couple!) voiced for an animation project. I’ve been working for like a month, but flimsy voice actor commitments have very much got in the way. It’s an animated interpretation of that comic DeadParrot drew a while back where Scootaloo gets her cutie mark in being cute.

Just figured I would ask. If you can’t, that’s fine. I have friends in high places who said they can hook me up if I can find any actors myself.

Hey Twins,

Sorry I’ve been putting off analyzing that music for you. I keep meaning to get around to it, but I keep putting it off because you young people have terrible tastes in music. The stuff is just so different from everything I study.

I mean shit, do you even chord? A lot of this stuff has little to no functional harmonic content, and harmony is the paradigm by which a classically trained prick purist such as myself uses to understand music. I’ll still take a listen, but besides maybe giving you a few general tips about form and developing musical themes, I don’t know how much help I’ll be.

I can probably help you out a bit. I can teach you how to make nice melodies, construct chords and meaningful chord progressions, and put the whole mess together in an overall structure that is musically meaningful. I am, as you noted however, very old school. I write all my stuff down on sheet music, I don’t know anything about using those new fangled musical programs or any of that witchcraft. So as far as learning how to operate your system or do sampling or whatever, you’re on your own.

To be honest, I never got around to watching Avenue Q so I missed the reference. Please don’t hate me.

Anyway, machines only do all the work in a factory when there are no random variables in the job process. No machine can do my job because of random variables; like things that need to be cut at random different angles in 3D space for each piece. You need a human for that.

Aint’ going into detail of what goes on at work. You don’t wanna know.

I always feel there is more life. My optimism tells me to be thankful for what I got so far but I’m always telling myself I could do more. Like I could have avoided this whole mess and kept my old job if I just tried harder. I have dreams of great things. I do wish I could make them real and be known for them. But sometimes just to simplify life: I ignore that feeling

However, I don’t believe in knowing too much. I believe that in the short time I have in the universe, I may as well learn as much of it as possible

And I think the Soviet Union collapsed because their arms race made their economy implode

We all feel that way. Everyone has their shit to deal with; like how I had to stop programming and start a new job in a factory to pay my loan sooner. Now that sucked. You wouldn’t want to be me in that situation either.

Plus we all hate ourselves for sitting around on our asses while accomplishing nothing (That’s why we aspire to take up hobbies like draw crude art and post it on the internet for karma)

But that just means we are getting it good. We are so safe and secure that we can loaf around until we hate ourselves for loafing around any longer. Just wait till you finish studies and get a full time job.

In some nations people would sell their kingdom for a life where they can just do nothing because they must work non stop or die. And at least I still got a job when so many people don’t. Sucks to be them.

Also it’s not my fault my wall is disgusting. Alex filled it with sexual innuendo! Blame him!

24 years and nothing productive? Cmon, lets be more optimistic:

First of all, just to get this out of the way: you are still alive HOORAY! Secondly, you haven’t dropped out of college so there’s hope or you yet. I doubt you will fail because you are Asian and Asians never fail college. Thirdly, you live in more than just a cardboard box and you don’t owe the mafia so you have some semblance of security. Fourthly you post on KYM which is only for cool and successful people so that means something. Lastly some may argue that your art counts as production.

So there. Happy Birthday ;)

I can’t imagine you as Asian. Then again, I guess most people can’t imagine me as being black.

What I’m trying to say is that you’re Sweetie Belle to me, mk?

I’m actually not asked that as much as I expect to be.
I do have crimson locks, but it’s because I dye my hair. I’m a natural dirty blonde.

Huh? What works?

I’m not supposed to allow things working in my vicinity. Point me to the offender and I’ll crash it immediately.
