OMG 24 FEEL SO OLD NOW

RIP JAMIE DUBS WALL THEME XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

I overanalyze things. A lot.
I post TL;DR. While simultaneously overanalyzing things.
I slack on KYM. By posting TL;DR.
I poorly draw. While using references.
I pop in whenever I feel is convenient, then stealthily recede into the shadows.
I wuv ALL the animals. But especially ponies Jamie.

loves Twins for who she is.

(Yes really.)

WHEREFORE ART THOU, JAMIE?

“You don’t think it’s going to be that easy to shut me up, do you?”

Clearly I underestimated you

“Praise, or the possibility of receiving it, makes me work 10 times harder and learn 20% faster.”

Alright don’t panic, we’ll resume the next time you post something. But you know that goes back to what I was saying about being a People Person, because you have that desire to please. That’s what People People (wording?) do. They like to get affirmation from others (Or is that a phlegmatic thing? My psychology could be off here)

“Orly? My sorely lacking 14 pages of wall posts begs to differ.”

You may be looking at the 27 pages of wall posts I got in 10 months. Please keep in mind that a large majority of that is biddings from when I hosted those Buy-a-BSOD auctions. Natsuru (Mr social) has 28 pages, just one more than me and he’s been here for 2 years. So has Ann Hiro and he’s got 8. 14 pages is pretty good number for 8 months

“And I doubt I’m the most sociable person on this entire forum”

You may not have the social status that Natsuru, Verbose or Randomman have. You have a way to go to reach their level. But yea, I’d say you are up there. I’m just basing my argument on the fact you get so many wall posts from everybody.

Haha, we just can’t not find something to talk about can we? They’re already shipping us

“At first, I didn’t really feel like a member of this community”

First time I came here, I didn’t think I would get very involved either. But this place sure sucks you in. My theory of that is because of the resourcefulness of the people here. I’ve posted in many forums over the years and this one really is different from all the others. For one thing: It’s a productive place and people here do things. Makes it more worth your time.

“once you guise started mentioning me in your posts, and including me is when I started to feel at home at here.”

You may not have been aware of it, but you actually stood out and people were quick to notice you. I don’t know if that happened because of your unique posting style, ambitious personality or just the fact you’re a girl.

“I ain’t much of a nerd”

That’s what they all say…next thing you know, you’re watching a Star Trek marathon.

“I’m popular now, but these things usually come in bursts”

True. But I have a feeling this wont be the last burst.

Admittedly, you haven’t reached Patrick levels of appreciation. You get there when literally every single image in the family portrait thread contains you….but you seem to be heading that direction

Why didn’t anyone tell me it was dump-ships-of-BSoD-and-Twins-on-Twins’-wall day?

Gotta jump on the bandwagon.

I’m not sure if I should be posting on your wall because you are clearly overwhelmed from all the attention and you need a break. So i’ll make this short and try to wrap our discussion up.

I’ll stop with the positive reinforcement if its any consolation, not that I’ll go to the opposite extreme (OMGLOL Phoneix!)

People person? At least here you are. You’ve got to be the most sociable person in this entire forum. Trust me. I don’t know anyone else that gets as many wall posts as you do from so many different people. If you ever sounded stupid either nobody noticed or nobody cared because you seem to be very popular right now.

And you used BASIC to do your geometry math schoolwork for you? Holy smokes, that’s a god-tier level of nerdiness. I think that explains why you get along so well with all of us [nerds] here

On a final note on HTML. To fix the spoiler text, try adding .spoiler{color:#68E89E;}

Yea but Bsod’s back leg kinda looks.. Broken?
Also image looks like little pixelated.. I should have expanded and fixed it.
Raster or vexel (you can tell I’m trying to sound smart here)?

Uhhh yes…

Since you’re so annoyed at getting praised so much:

Your drawing suck and you should kill yourself. Or better yet, throw yourself off a cliff, preferably with a river at the bottom so we don’t have to clean up the body.

There you go.

….Uh….
Shoot, I’m already like two hours into this. Too late to stop now!

Really guys? Really?
You’re making me feel like one of those girls who post on Facebook saying “I’m fat :(” to get people to post “No, you’re beautiful :3” over and over again so she’ll feel good about herself.
And I am not that kind of person.
Okay maybe a little.

>I draw picture of RandomMan’s profile bunny dressed as Thor wielding a banhammer-ignored
>You draw inaccurate picture of Sweetie Belle and BSoD’s OC-praised as new art style, beloved, and vectored.

(In all seriousness, I hope this encourages you to keep at your drawing endeavors! We could use more pony drawings)

Erm, sorry about all the constant wall posts. What can we say? We all love talking to you. Consider yourself a people person.

Oh well, in regards to learning techniques I was just speaking from my own experience. I didn’t learn how to draw poni until I copied some poni images but that’s just me. There are other ways of doing it.

You might be a different learner who will pick up your own methods and that’s cool. You seem to have found your element in any case.

To whom it may concern:
Wall posts really are inconvenient, aren’t they? Me, BSOD, parrot, and the rest of Poni General should have our own little chat room in the IRC and call it “make twins feel less insecure about her subpar art through a metric ass tonne of positive reinforcement only to get more mediocre copywork instead”

Oh yeah? Well I can tell what reference image you used! Hurts, doesn’t it?

Actually that wasn’t a negative. When I was vectoring the image I quite liked how you paid attention to all the various curves and strokes I used on my OC and replicated them accordingly. You want to start off copying others anyway. How you learned HTML by copying me is how you will learn art by copying Ivan and Muumi (or me again).

And yea, I echo Deadparrot. Inkscape is fantastic. I find it way easier to use than Photoshop

”Now if I could only drop a bunch of classes and become even more of a shut-in than I already am…"

Damn that education. Always hindering creativity.

(Yes, I caught the sarcasm. I thought I laid it on pretty thick myself in my response.)

Yep, Inkscape is usually considered the best free vectoring program.
Download it, check out some tutorials, and get to work.
Obviously, you can use vectors for custom art as well as traces.
I may start doing my own stuff eventually, too, I just want to do a bunch of traces first to get my technique down before I ‘go rogue.’
Plus, tracing is usually a pretty good way to learn how the ponies are constructed, potentially making for an easier time later on.

Ha, you’re on!
I love getting free stuff, especially from my-…
Hang on…

Hey!
I’m not falling for that so easily!
(Besides, EQD doesn’t often feature straight-up show trace vectors. They like custom stuff much more, and I don’t think I’m quite there yet.)

And yes, vectors are all about math.
Rather than just drawing the image, you essentially define it with points and vectors.
Because it is based on formulas rather than hard pixel data, a vector can easily be scaled to any size without seeing a loss in resolution like you would with a normal image.
Plus, you can add cool effects like how I just put some transparency on Scoots’ wings to make them look more like they are flapping quickly:

It’s the forum equivalent of hanging things on the fridge wall. Why not? :D

When it comes to learning how to draw, just doing it, then throwing your stuff out there no matter how terrible is essential so I’m encouraging that.

You drew Sweetie Belle quite accurately. I can tell you put a lot of love into her. I have to agree with Muumi that she looks adorable.

I also have to agree that you did make some mistakes on my OC but understandably my OC is harder to draw than Sweetie Belle (for one thing you only had one image as a reference. I can tell which image you used as well). Just remember that stallions are often drawn with broader snouts.

Have a fast dirty vector of your sketch

Wall of text incoming!

That feel when u ask a bunch of questions and your wall is spammed with answers.
For some reason I couldn’t post until I’ve split this post into three posts. Even though its not over the character limit or anything. Sorry for the wall of text/spam. Btw, those were fantastic questions

Do you use references circles and guidelines and stuff, at such a high level, in both digital and traditional art?
At this point/level I no longer use any guidelines or reference circles (for proportions and stuff) It does help to see what I wanna draw though. For example I will open up a pic of MLP and model facial expressions after that.

How long would it take you to sketch something like this, but of an obviously much higher calibre?
A: I like to spend time on my drawings and I don’t try to rush (I used to rush drawings and vectors, but the quality suffers a lot so I stopped rushing.). To sketch something like that would take about: 10min pencil (no color), 15min pencil (color). 5-10min digital sketch (vexel – no color), 10-15min digital sketch (vexel – color), and finally 15-20min vector (no color) and 20-30min vector (color). (Not really sure if u can consider a vector drawing a “sketch”)

How long did it take you to draw that nice little pic you left on my wall?
Just over an hour. Never drew Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon before – had to do the accessories/jewelry from scratch and that slowed me down.

How long did it take you to be good at drawing ponies?
Im good at drawing ponies? Anyway… it took me about 5-6months. Daily pencil sketches, to digital artwork. When I started vectors, due to their nature its a bit more complicated. Less drawing more pointing and rotating using the mouse rather than the tablet.

Should I start drawing people first before ponies?
Doesn’t really matter where you start. Draw anything you want. I drew objects, people, etc and then when I discovered MLP I started drawing ponies and cause the community was awesome I actually started posting drawings instead of destroying them. If you learn proper techniques you can apply the skill to drawing virtually anything.

Have you always been this good? Like, I know everyone improves over time, but were you like gifted from an early age?
Actually I wasn’t gifted. Basically what happened was: mom worked in production and theater and is very good at drawing, dad was an architect and engineer and is also very good at drawing. Oldest brother is a professional artist who paints stuff in oil, etc and sells his stuff (lolatsellingpaintingsinRussia), my other brother is also extremely good at drawing cause he used to draw a lot before. But no one really pursued it and continued drawing just for fun, etc. The oldest brother draws just for money and that also happens rarely. And then there was me. No skill, no talent, no nothing. Knowing everyone in the damn family can draw I figured I should start too, so I started a while back and then started posting with MLP.
TL;DR: No skill, not gifted. Just felt like drawing.

What do you find easier, traditional or digital art?
Traditional art is much faster and easier. Digital art requires to switch functions in Photoshop/Illustrator
and all that does is slow you down. Sometimes those programs have issues and problems and thats just frustrating. So traditional art is much easier.
