@Ryan Lee: I’m doing some research. I’m pretty sure the term comes from the character in Mortal Kombat II, Noob Saibot, at least in gaming. Considering he was a character designed to be a First order opitmal strategy player. What we would call today a noob character, where a new player can use him with relative ease, and achieve great power. Little work with basic knowledge for high power return.
Though, I can’t find a place to cite the source, (I see your problem).
The internet is too big.

+0 confirm. It’s got potential as a minor meme, but the only way I’ve seen it used (off of this page and the original opening) is an “unfitting music” towards something like Gears of War or Call Of Duty.

Halo 2 is not the first use of the term noob. Maybe on consels, but the term was used much earlier then that. try 1996ish.

+1 confirm. My favorite thing that they do that makes them hypocrites is the fact that they don’t show black people due to the fact that they think it would promote racism, yet they are technically acting racist by doing that.
Yu-gi-oh! abridged has quite a few of these memes in it.

@ Holly Oakhill: Rules 1 and 2 are for Raids. It would be like telling your target your base of operations.

I’ve used this for years and never really realized it was a meme.
Commented on E3 Sony 2006 / Giant Enemy Crab.
I’m pretty sure Crawmerax from Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC, is a direct reference to this. It is, for lack of better words, a giant enemy crab. The only way to damage it is to attack it’s critical hit spots, resulting in massive damage.

English Majors must want to just beat the stupid out of these retards with a dictionary.
More of an act of trolling then a Meme.
Spell it anyway you want, you are wrong if it is spelled incorrectly.

I think Stealthy is right. I totally forgot about the Diablo 2 admin weapon. Blizzard probably started it.

Just because something is popular on youtube doesn’t make it a meme.

+1 potential. As for me, I have a cat so under it has to be.
Commented on Banhammer.
How was this not confirmed already? as for researchers, Bungie.net has had extensive history with said Banhammer, to the point that Halo 3 and Halo Reach’s Auto Ban programs are referred to as Banhammers.

+1 confirm, though this entry was written rather poorly.
It’s more of an “in joke” then a meme though.
