Maxo is awesome.
Oh, same ol’, same ol’. For God’s Will to be done.
But I would like to thank Him for where I am in life right now. I’ve got everything I need, I’m around friends and family, and I’m pretty content. I can’t really ask for anything else.
Apologies for the hiatus of sorts. I won’t try to justify myself. I’ll just say that I prioritize things in a certain way.
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”
Anything that we’ll be exposed to is basically the nature of the world. Lust, avarice, greed, apathy, gluttony…they’re all matters of being human. They’re all difficult, and some are more difficult than others to overcome. But God always provides a way to remove yourself from the temptation.
It makes me think back to The Lord’s Prayer. “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” God always provides a means to remove oneself from your personal temptation. It’s just a matter of choosing to take it. It’s not an easy thing to do, but it is a simple choice.
Nope. Playing through the series now (off and on.) Can’t spoil anything. I’ll assume it’s a MGS reference though.
Scorpio, huh? I noticed that you had that in the New Members thread and on your About Me section here.
I thought that was interesting and noteworthy.
Also, that cat is armed. Bad juju.
I am going to respond to things in time. Just…not now. Hopefully soon, but after responding to emails at work all day, I get to the weekends and have trouble doing so for anything I need to put effort into thinking about.
Sure, I understand that most people in Web Culture aren’t black people, and I understand that few understand the intricacies of racial issues. I also understand that most of you are still in high school and your only interactions with black people aren’t with ones who can articulate their reasoning.
But please do understand that the ruckus comes from something, and if people far more accomplished academically and professionally than you say something is odd, then at least recognize that the situation can’t be resolved in…
…5 or 6 sentences?
All in all, you’re kinda speaking from your tails. I will acknowledge that I would rather no one use the word, but I wish you’d acknowledge that you know less about the matter than those who are trained and experienced to speak on it.
When you guys get to college, I would strongly suggest taking a few social science courses. I wouldn’t not advise taking African-American of Gender Studies classes (Being laughed out of the classroom isn’t a fun experience.)
It’s not quite a double standard. Some black people (unfortunately, the more prominent ones) use the word “Nigga” as a term of endearment. At worst, it’s just a word to indicate a black person with an edge that comes with being exposed to racism.
It’s not an experience white people have gotten unless they’ve been to another country, and even then, it’s nothing institutionalized like it’s been in the US. So I wouldn’t suggest speaking with such conviction on a matter you will simply not understand fully. Not because you’re not black, but because you haven’t taken time to understand the history or the present social context of racism.
Also, in terms of arguments:
“There’s been worse” doesn’t mean this is OK.
There’s a difference between calling a person “My nigga” and saying “I will fight every nigger here.” The difference isn’t in how you say it, but the context.
Mhm. I suppose you could piece together the HTML stuff, but yeah, it’s much easier to copy and paste it from the embed menu on YouTube.
Why is Hinako doing pushups on my wall.
Yes, I know about Training with Hinako.
No apologies about being busy. I never sent you a response from last week anyway.
Christ lived on Earth as God and Man, and He endured all of the temptations and troubles that all men do. He likely knew lust, anger, we all know He drank to some extent, envy, and probably disgust with what humans can be. But with all of that, He still chose to forgive us all and live for us all by setting the example of what we should be for the world.
I don’t claim to have the wisdom or perfection of Jesus, but it does give me strength to know He once walked not only among us, but as one of us.
My family has its troubles, but nothing so specific. Again, I’ll just ask God’s Will be done.
I feel that way sometimes. I’ve done and conquered all that I could have on KYM. There is nothing left to pwn.
(And I couldn’t blame you. My best friend just got married yesterday, and it’s been hard to even lurk between those preparations and moving, let alone post.)
Heh, thanks. I may not be on KYM as much anymore, so any awesomeness may not shine through at all times. But I still get around to posting and responding to
This week was just a really busy week. Whoo~
- I couldn’t tell you why they’re cats.
- I couldn’t tell you if it’s a “furry comic,” but by simple definition, it is. “Furry,” to my knowledge, just means an anthropomorphic animal with a somewhat human shape. But I don’t know if the artist is a furry. My thinking is that she isn’t.
- The setting is the United States (St. Louis, Missouri) just after prohibition went into effect. It’s the main impetus for the story as bootlegging alcohol is at the core of most of the conflicts.
Yep. Tracy Butler is the artist for Lackadaisy. There’s a ton of faces and scenes that I think you’ll like.
Oh, I just resigned. As you might be able to tell from Mack’s post, I’m going through a lot of life changes. I don’t even have time to post. And the way I would prefer to moderate is not what KYM needs. A fundamental disagreement that wasn’t going to be reconciled, if you will.
The apartment is nice. Just a little empty until I can afford, well, anything.
Best man for a wedding. Stag party and toast to concoct before rehearsals, dinners, ceremony, handling participants’ transportation…
In all honesty, you may be waiting a while, I’m afraid.
Welcome back, dude! I moved to Atlanta while you were off, and I haven’t gotten Internet access yet (posting from work dun tell) but I’ll have it again by the end of Saturday.
I’ll be bored for the first few weekends, so once I get a chance to see your AMV, I’ll give the anime a look. Still haven’t watched the other anime with the titan thingies.
…I’m sorry. I haven’t seen you post in the past few months.
Are you new to the site? TROLOLOLOL.
I’m having to use a public area to post since my Internet isn’t up here yet (but it should be before the end of Saturday,) but here I go:
Luke 23:43 And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
It’s my favorite verse. It’s on my mind all of the time, because forgiveness (true forgiveness) is hard for a logical person (and sometimes vengeful) person like me to achieve. Here, a criminal who has committed heinous crimes is set to be crucified along with Jesus. Knowing full well that the criminal had committed himself to a life a crime and had no time left to live a different life, Jesus forgave him anyway.
Of course, it speaks to God’s grace and how He forgives regardless as long as you’re truly sorry.
But it also speaks to the fact that there’s nothing you can do to earn forgiveness. That’s far different from doing whatever, transgressing whomever, and and expecting God’s grace. But no matter what you do or don’t do, it not enough to prevent someone seeking forgiveness from getting it through Christ and there’s nothing you can do to get it without seeking it through Christ.
Sorry, I’ve got spotty Internet for the next week or so.
Thanks. I guess my account is about 4 years old now, isn’t it? I guess I hadn’t thought about that.
I resigned. Partly because I didn’t want to moderate the way in which KYM should be moderated. Partly because I’ve started a new job and I wanted to focus on other things.
As you can tell, I still post. I just don’t moderate. There was no pressure to resign. I chose it, and other moderators were OK with it even if they didn’t agree.
I see. Your recent posts and OP’d threads had me worried. I don’t know you too too well, but they didn’t seem like you.
I don’t think there’s a whole lot to this verse. Just have faith in an omnipotent and benevolent being.
What I will note is the last part: “Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.”
This is a more difficult matter of faith. Maintaining belief when everything seems lost is hard to do as logical beings. But in times of trouble, we’re called to do as such. I’ve always said that I admire a person who’s naturally mean and occasionally (if not often) gives in to anger while struggling to be nice more than a person who’s naturally nice and rarely is antagonistic to others. For the nice person, it is easy to be nice. But for the mean person, he or she has to give effort to be nice. It is difficult to be something when it’s against your nature, so I have to admire a person who doesn’t give into nature when he or she believes that his nature is wrong.
Even if the nice person wasn’t a Christian, they’d still be nice, because that’s who they are naturally.
I appreciate the continued prayers for my family. I’ve moved away from them just recently, so it’s hard to assess how things are with “us,” but I’m confident things will be better. I just shouldn’t live with them for an extended period of time, is all.
