I’m a strong, black woman who don’t need no man to work with.
EarthBound, eh? Well, Pokemon X and Y are coming out soon along with the 3D Zelda, and I’ve got other games I need to finish, so I probably wouldn’t play it anytime soon with my schedule.
But this isn’t the first near rave review I’ve gotten on Uprising, so I’ll have to bump it up to the top of my 3DS list.
Well, I’m all for Marth being dropped. I never liked him (I liked Roy better in Melee, I like Ike better in Brawl, and I’d like Lucina, Chrom, Ike, or Roy better than Marth in the Wii U version.
I haven’t played Kid Icarus, but it seems like I might like it (just for the dialogue I’ve heard from it.) So I can’t speak to any of the characters in that. But I would say that Magnus is probably a better bet than a secondary character from Fire Emblem.
The Pokémon Master thing isn’t undeserved. I do love my Pokiemanz, but there are a lot of other users who know a lot more about it than I do. I just got the title.
Apologies for the delayed response. I always like to make sure I give people a decent response instead of a brief one that I just crapped out.
“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?”
What good does it do to worry?
I can’t remember the context here, and I think that’s certainly important, so I’ll just go with what I can pull (and still stay true to the tenets of the faith.)
There are times in the Bible where matters are ordered by priority. Don’t be concerned about specks in others’ eyes before you get to the plank in your own. Love God before all else and then your neighbor.
In this case, there’s no need to worry about something you’re not addressing yet. You can plan and prepare, but until you’re actually taking action towards something, there’s no need to expend emotional resources on it.
My prayer requests stand as they have for the past few weeks.
Uploaded an image to My Hand is a Dolphin.
I’ll try not to injure you, but you’re going to have to get Kirby to take his hand off of the trigger.
Years to come, eh?
Ah, you’ve returned for a cameo appearance?
I like her for her personality. All of the characters are well-written, and Chrom is included in that. But she comes off as a young lady who’s regal (being the daughter of who is eventually the equivalent of the king) and yet awkward (in bad fashion tastes and being so formal in speech that she asks for help with it.) She’s feminine (as shown by her physical features and interests outside of battle) as well as very aggressive (having a fighting style very similar to her fathers, tendency to break things and all.) She’s very determined (as shown by going back in time to avert a crisis with no means of returning to her time and by her in-battle text) and yet is very close to her family and friends (the support conversations with Chrom and clips where she reveals that she is Chrom’s daughter are both very sweet.)
You also have to consider a huge point in gaming demographics: She’s a woman as compared to a guy. It’s a bit more complex than hormonal, sex-driven men ogling her animated body though. She’s simply more endearing of a character in part due to her gender and her appearance.
She also has a pretty wicked sword stance.
Early in the game, a character called Marth helps out Chrom and your avatar character. The character turns out to be Chrom’s daughter from the future, Lucina.
The real Marth has been in the last few Smash bros., so you’d either have two Marth’s, or you’d spoil that for those wanting to play Awakening (although that has happened with Sheik before). Also, Lucina isn’t a main character, so she’d be the first to be in a Smash Bros. game without the game she’s having her as the main character.
Chrom the main character is more likely but Lucina is generally better liked.
A very interesting question below. I’ll have to follow it.
Anyway, on the Psalms verse, knowing what you’re supposed to do gives you direction. Even if you’re not quite sure of what to do, going by the word of God/Jesus would give you an idea of what to do or what not to do. Sorry that I don’t have my normal loquacious nature, but there are my thoughts.
My family is doing well. I think they’ve adjusted to me being away from home after being back at home for a several months.
The reason I “default” to just praying for God’s Will to be done, is because I have times where I’m not sure what to pray for. Some things seem to be what you need (i.e. getting the job that you’re going to an interview for tomorrow) when what God would have is something else (i.e. not getting this job, being able to have more time to figure out how you’re going to go about life, and getting another job that’s better suited for you a month or two later.)
I’m in one of those times. Things seem to be going really well, and I hope they stay that way. I try to stay within what I believe God would have me do, but in case I’m off base, I just ask for whatever God wants to be done.
I may have to look into it. I don’t really have much excuse not to look right.
I did know that about Tara Strong. I saw a YouTube video on her character through some other bronies.
Lucina is one of the main characters in Fire Emblem: Awakening. Since Melee, Fire Emblem has had two representatives from the series. It would be odd for reasons that involve spoilers (in case you’re considering playing the game,) but I can explain if you’re not concerned about those things.
Boom goes the
Pokemon, I’ll get without thinking.
Wonderful 101 does look pretty cool though. I have Viewtiful Joe for the GameCube, and I get a lot of Joe vibes from Wonderful 101. I’ll have to play it before looking into that.
YEAH I DID I GET IT RIGHT IN THE FEELS
Oh, same ol’, same ol’. For God’s Will to be done.
But I would like to thank Him for where I am in life right now. I’ve got everything I need, I’m around friends and family, and I’m pretty content. I can’t really ask for anything else.
Apologies for the hiatus of sorts. I won’t try to justify myself. I’ll just say that I prioritize things in a certain way.
“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”
Anything that we’ll be exposed to is basically the nature of the world. Lust, avarice, greed, apathy, gluttony…they’re all matters of being human. They’re all difficult, and some are more difficult than others to overcome. But God always provides a way to remove yourself from the temptation.
It makes me think back to The Lord’s Prayer. “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” God always provides a means to remove oneself from your personal temptation. It’s just a matter of choosing to take it. It’s not an easy thing to do, but it is a simple choice.
Nope. Playing through the series now (off and on.) Can’t spoil anything. I’ll assume it’s a MGS reference though.
Scorpio, huh? I noticed that you had that in the New Members thread and on your About Me section here.
I thought that was interesting and noteworthy.
Also, that cat is armed. Bad juju.
I am going to respond to things in time. Just…not now. Hopefully soon, but after responding to emails at work all day, I get to the weekends and have trouble doing so for anything I need to put effort into thinking about.
Sure, I understand that most people in Web Culture aren’t black people, and I understand that few understand the intricacies of racial issues. I also understand that most of you are still in high school and your only interactions with black people aren’t with ones who can articulate their reasoning.
But please do understand that the ruckus comes from something, and if people far more accomplished academically and professionally than you say something is odd, then at least recognize that the situation can’t be resolved in…
…5 or 6 sentences?
All in all, you’re kinda speaking from your tails. I will acknowledge that I would rather no one use the word, but I wish you’d acknowledge that you know less about the matter than those who are trained and experienced to speak on it.
When you guys get to college, I would strongly suggest taking a few social science courses. I wouldn’t not advise taking African-American of Gender Studies classes (Being laughed out of the classroom isn’t a fun experience.)
It’s not quite a double standard. Some black people (unfortunately, the more prominent ones) use the word “Nigga” as a term of endearment. At worst, it’s just a word to indicate a black person with an edge that comes with being exposed to racism.
It’s not an experience white people have gotten unless they’ve been to another country, and even then, it’s nothing institutionalized like it’s been in the US. So I wouldn’t suggest speaking with such conviction on a matter you will simply not understand fully. Not because you’re not black, but because you haven’t taken time to understand the history or the present social context of racism.
Also, in terms of arguments:
“There’s been worse” doesn’t mean this is OK.
There’s a difference between calling a person “My nigga” and saying “I will fight every nigger here.” The difference isn’t in how you say it, but the context.
