We need more info about its pre-YT spread online which you might be able to find via a Google Blog Search. My first bookmark to Christian The Lion is via http://www.kimbawlion.com/christian.htm but that’s just the possible origin. It’d be nice to try to find out how it spread from there.

I would like to speak on behalf of my Uncle Tommy. I hope that people understand there is a family who is grieving for the lost life of this man, Thomas Bruso. He is our brother, son and uncle. He is a man that is very sick and has been using drugs and homeless on and off for years. He refuses to stick to a treatment plan which is probably part of his illness. He missed our grandmothers funeral last week because he was arrested in Colorado for drug pocession and then wehn being apprehended assaulted the officers. Our Uncle has a long history of mental illness and drug abuse. It is very sad and embarassing to our family to see the people glorifying his behavior when he needs help. He is not a Vet because he never made it past boot camp due to above mentioned problems. Please pray for him as we are.

@shinkosai That’s the point, actually. You can’t plagarize from ED and you can’t make placeholder entries for later. It’s how we uphold standards and give everyone a chance to write entries that they’re interested in writing.

You still have authorship credit if you can write up a real entry. See this thread for more info.

This has been interesting to watch unfold. It’s a “movement” that started off as a poster (with a slight nod to the Shepard Fairey “Hope” poster), turned into a tongue-in-cheek Twilight reference (#teamcoco), and is now a Facebook group with 300k+ followers, a Twitter hashtag campaign, and now they’re organizing protest rallies.

Just left a couple of notes on the Gay Test entry. Nice work!

A few notes:

Perhaps it’s worth pointing out the cultural link between this demotivational and the IRL “gay test” memes that used to spread in grade school. (Ask someone to look at their nails. If they look at their nails, fingers outstretched, then they’re gay.)

Is there a connection between this and demotivationals that joke as if you don’t notice the most obvious thing in a picture? (eg: “Oh Look, Cupcakes”)

@Gravity Cat: can you add a sentence explaining what “replacement meme” means? Especially if you don’t mean “forced meme” as @Jostin suggests.
