About

Whatever happens, something responds. And something else responds, in turn. It’s an endless cycle that never repeats in quite the same way. Yes, there are patterns--motifs even--but there may never be a way to completely know what will happen and how to respond.

KYM Final Fantasy General

Oh totally go for VI. The battle system is simple enough. If you have VI on SNES, it would probably be wiser to keep that stored in a safe place. I did that for my copy. Try to get FF Anthology, instead. It’s seriously one of my favorite games.

BioShock Infinite

Is anyone else done yet? I kind of just want to talk about my disappointments and annoyances with the plot, but I can’t do so until a spoiler release is given an okay.

Suicide Prevention Simulation Video Game

If you struggled with this--your sense of empathy and sympathy needs some work. That’s the point. Notice how the antagonist actually calls you out on simply preventing someone’s suicide, rather than actually caring (regardless of whether it’s a simulation or not). And yes. There’s a typo. All the antagonist is saying is that he hates humans simply being human. He’s being sarcastic. Notice his expression and how ridiculous his comment is.

Suicide Prevention Simulation Video Game

Actually… Confession of mine--but I’ve actually been pretty suicidal, on multiple occasions. I can’t even begin to express how much I relate to all three scenarios. In short, this is a fantastic idea. It could be a great tool to help train people on how to better handle when someone is having suicidal thoughts. Also, props to the retro/pixel art and beautiful music.

Memes as Language/Re-categorization amongst Memes

@*opspe* and amanda b Thank you guys! As soon as I get time to find solid research materials and academia to back up this theoretical approach to explaining the function of memes (and possibly subcultures as well), we can start with a page. It’s going to take a lot of organizing. I’m thinking I might have to design some sort of tables to explain the idea. Here’s a really fascinating article by Paul Bouisacc. (fyi it’s a PDF) Wiki also has an Outline of Linguistics.

Memes as Language/Re-categorization amongst Memes

@opspe I’d be happy to make an article, with some assistance. I’ve been wanting to gather all my thoughts--actually--many user’s thoughts on the subject of memes as a linguistic tool. I’m currently a bit too busy to be taking on any articles. (Indeed, I’ve yet to finish any articles I’ve started) @August Day Walls of text… I kind of agree. I suppose I should have organized my thoughts a bit first. I apologize. I also kind of agree about ponies. The only reason I mentioned that was because a friend of...

Memes as Language/Re-categorization amongst Memes

@opspe I totally understand what you mean about the target audience, but as far as I’ve noticed, KYM is built around research and the education of memes. We even discourage unsavory editing, grammar, and discourse (except for the lulz of course). Believe it or not, people are actually starting to take KYM a lot more seriously as a means to source viral content. I simply don’t see the need in dumbing anything down, but rather--I think we could up the ante. If we wait too long, the task of more...

Memes as Language/Re-categorization amongst Memes

Today I was watching Vsauce, where the term Paraprosdokian was used to describe memes like Dating Site Murderer / Good Intentions Axe Murderer and Successful Black Man . Looking into the articles, both use the term Bait-and-Switch . However, Paraprosdokian and Bait-and-Switch, being similar to their execution, are completely different, both in function and purpose. While both are linguistic tricks, Paraprosdokian is often meant to inform and change ones opinion; but Bait-and-Switch is meant to misinform,...

What do you look for in a significant other?

A penis. Someone whose dating and relationship experience isn’t derived from: Adam4Adam Grindr Scruff Hornet Blendr Growlr & Craigslist And why would I list all these creepy-ass sites? Well, in the Midwest (Bible Belt), most homosexuals are forced into the closet, still. That’s what people have to resorted to. It’s sad, really.

Graduate Research: Persuasive memes

Talking about persuasion and Advice Dog isn’t mentioned before Insanity Wolf? Oh well… I know I’ve said this before, but are you going to mention anything about memes being a new means of evolving human language?

Need Help With an Entry?

Planes, Trains and Plantains I need help researching, more than anything. It’s rather obscure and irrelevant, at this point--but it still needs an entry. I would also like to request editorship of Pickle Surprise . The original uploader is inactive, however, so it I’ll need help from an entry moderator.

Do you support gay marriage?

Me too. I live in Southern Missouri. Soooooo, I may have to wait a while, or magically become financially capable, within a short period of time, in order to move somewhere better.

Do you support gay marriage?

Lots of gays on this thread/site… hmm Well… I guess I should start asking the question no one has dared to ask. Anyone want to get married? Image related:
