I'll probably be up for a SynchTube (until Toonami comes on tonight at 12a ET.) But not anytime soon.
Unrelated:
Go and use this.
Hi guys. I've been posting in the comment section of the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic article for a while, but have never posting in the forums. A little bit about myself: I'm a 21 year old male. I've been watching FiM for almost a year now. I'm currently attending college, but over the summer I work full time as a cook. In my free time, I watch TV shows on Netflix, play video games and watch movies with my friends, and making PMVs. Here's my latest one:
@disturbedbrony
Hey, good to see you! In order to give you a decent welcoming, I went through the effort of making you an image. It took absolutely ages to make, so I hope you like it.
Yay, new people everywhere! To any lurkers, now's the time to start posting. Joining the thread is totally in right now.
EDIT: Wait, I'm sure I can do better than that.
There, that's better.

We're a nice bunch most of the time. Just follow le rules and you should be fine.
Verbose is our forum mod; what he says is law, understand?

Welcome to the pony thread, where all mental stability will eventually fall.
@New people
Welcome to the thread and all that. Only keep three pictures in a post, etc. etc.
I'm not good at welcoming, so I'll post this here instead:
@Cosplay
It's funny we're discussing this now actually, since I'm working on a KYM entry for it. I'm pretty much in agreement with everyone else, the best pony cosplays are the simplest. Yes, there are the pony fursuits, but many guys try too hard to look like females when cosplaying as ponies (i.e. wearing a dress). This is what I would consider to be a good RD cosplay for a male:
It's just a wig, some jeans, and a blue shirt. Simple, cheap, and effective. Now the Spike costume behind him, on the other hand……
@Synchtube
I'm down for a synchtube, but that would depend on the time. At 6 CST, there's a KYM TF2 match I want to attend. I might only stay for one round, but I'm unsure how long synchtubes usually stay active, since I never have stayed all the way to the end of one.
Seems everybody's joining in.
So, to the new members:
Verbose is the local TL;DR king and a mod, RandomMan gets all the bitches and is generally the best guy ever, Algy likes fan-fics, Muffinator and I are clones (according to Verbose), Ric is a pegasus with augmentation bullshit, Popper is a Mandalorian with the hots for Chrysalis, Pyro is Nightmare Moon's waifu (and vice-versa), Twins is a girl that's been strangely absent, Dac provides the shitstorms and controversy, and Princess Celestia is best pony.
Now that that's out of the way, make sure to be kind, contribute to discussions when you can and try to be nice and you'll do fine. If you go to the Just For Fun forum, Captain Serious (AKA Thomas Nair) is kind of a dick, and hates bronies with a passion. Try to troll him as often as possible.
Edit: @Pinkamina:
I have the strangest urge to flee in terror.
Odd. You still haven't taught me to bake, though. I'm kind of bummed out by that…

@Explosive: You mention everyone but me?
@Disturbed: Don't listen to Explosive about best pony. Rainbow Dash clearly has that title. But yeah, be nice to everyone here, post ponies and have fun. Since you have posted here you are now enrolled in RandomMan's army of bitches. Try to have content to your posts. Just take Explosive's advice.
@Synchtube: I'm up for it. When will it begin?
@ cosplay discussion
I don't like cosplay much. I find it just kinda dorky I guess. I don't understand why people dress up like characters and just walk around in public for no other reason than to get strange looks. Now, if it's a costume party or Halloween, by all means, dress up.
@Explosive Lasers
I do a lot more than start shitstorms. Hell, I only started one. I would have preferred resident perv( maybe not, but still….)
@ Dan
Bitch please…
This is the only good hoity toity cosplay. Your guy gets C for effort, but an F for that hair. Lol
Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I think I'm gonna like it here XD
@disturbed
Just as planned…
Welcome aboard son!
I just listen to Down With The Sickness by Disturbed. What scene would be perfect with that song?

Agreed. I learned about that yesterday, it's such a loss. Some friends of mine went through a similar tragedy with their son. I feel for the devastation Tony and her family must be feeling…

I am also ready down for a synctube, maybe at 7:30 CST?
How do you think I feel?
Also yeah, synchtube… Maybe, I mean there's also the ChaoticMonki livestream and Toonami tonight…
Oh boy, so many newfags. You know what we have to do…
Anyways, you can check out the semi-official KYM Brony Bios to see a short description of who we are and what we do here.
Welcome to the thread.

Conventions are basically costume parties, Dac. :/
And you can't be the resident Perv, you're too busy bundling hay or shoveling horseshit or whatever it is you farm folk do.

Wait, BIOs? huh… that actually sounds quite a piece of useful information for the newcomers. Well done. Though there are some missing KYM bronies that deserves to be added to the list.

Hehe, Parties for losers!
Even at a convention, I find it dorky. Halloween gets a pass just because it's Halloween.
To be honest, MLP is the first thing I've really geeked out about as much as I have. So, I'm not very tolerant of all that dorky stuff. Not because I'm worried what people might think of me if I did it( well, mabye a little) but I just don't get what's fun about it.

I know I'm getting worked up over a bunch of trolls, and I know that love and tolerance is always the answer. But I'm sorry. This isn't the fucking case anymore. Those fucking putrid douchebags need to go get electrocuted, jump off a cliff, get bit by poisonous snakes, smash their head in with a fucking baseball bat, put their brains into a goddamn blender and then drink it. It's people like those fucking assholes that just make me want to go out and kill myself. I know I might get nega-karma for this, but who the fuck cares? I certainly don't. I'm just voicing my opinion about those fucking scumbags called human beings on that video. This just makes me lose even more faith in humanity. I hope they're fucking happy about ruining his day even more.

>costumes okay during Halloween

I've never cosplayed myself, but I appreciate the subtle outfits that some have come up with. Yes, giant footie costumes and overweight dudes cross-dressing does cause me some discomfort, but not all of them are like that. And as always, this is of course just a little matter of opinion.

It may be arbitrary, but you think I'm the only one who thinks that way. Most people only find it "normal" to dress up during halloween. Its generally seen as childish to dress up except on halloween. Im not saying I think that way. But I don't see the point of dressing up outside of the tradition of halloween and that most costume parties require costume. I'm not saying others can't do it, but I don't dress up for anything other than Halloween and I find fursuits and cosplayers a tad strange. That's just my opinion. Who cares if I don't like it?

Cosplay is bigger than you think. There are entire websites devoted to helping people find communities to engage in cosplay with. I haven't cosplayed myself, but cosplay is basically a way to show your support for a character or idea. Much like wearing a sports jersey to a sports match.
This article contains more info. Also, watch your tone. Some people might find your post offensive.

Dude, the easiest way to turn suicidal is to read the youtube comment section. Remember, those assholes only do it for shits and giggles, they want to piss you off. Don't let it get to your head. If you need to vent, you're allowed to. Me? Well my anger dried up long ago… partly due to ponies.
The only time you should read youtube comments is when you lost some of you blood lust.
Ex. I ran out of drive to kill demz haters. I just:
1. Go to youtube
2. Look up "FOX attacks bronies"
3. Read comments.
4. Rage meter filled enough for
RAEP TEIMZ!
5. Profit.

@muffins
I was joking about the loser part and said that mostly because I was replying to pheonix for making a joke about my job. Anyways, I know it's quite big and there are entire website devoted to it, but I still don't care for it. I don't get whats the big deal. I don't get the appeal and I find it makes geeks look bad in the eyes of the masses when you have cosplayers and fursuiters running around, and hasn't that always been everyone's argument against r34? Like I said, I don't hate the people, but I don't get the appeal of it.
I know some people think I have arbitrary rules about what I do, and I'll admit that it really shouldn't matter. But the thing is that it does to most people outside. I don't cosplay outside of Halloween, I don't wear shirts to show off the games or shows I love, I don't talk about "nerd" culture or bring it up in public. It may seem like I'm afraid to show people my "true" nature, but that's not it. I like conforming to society in order to blend perfectly. I don't want to stick out for something, that lets face it, will be seen as a negative. It just not my style. You could say that matching clothes and fashion is arbitrary as well, but hey, I like to be fashionable. If I'm gonna stick out, I sure as hell want it to be because of something like that. I waste an hour 5 times a week bulking up because I want to look good, it's arbitrary really because I'm in good enough shape now to survive the modern world, but again it's something that I made myself believe was needed.
I guess what I am trying to say is that you may make fun of me because you think that my logic Is flawed, but I don't care, we all have arbitrary rules we follow to conform to society. You can deny it, but trust me, you do. Mabye me more than most on here, but again, that's just me.Dac wrote:

Heck, there are plenty of things I don't like. I won't try to convince you to approve of it, mostly I'm just trying to offer the opposing viewpoint. And yeah, I'd say you're opinion is certainly mainstream. But still, just because a lot of people see something as childish, that doesn't always make it so, right?
Like I said, though, I do agree that the ones who go a little too crazy with it look pretty strange, even to semi-supporters like me.
Edit:
@Youtube
Yeah, youtube comments are some of the most hit-or-miss you'll see anywhere. It is extremely rare to see a productive conversation there.

Love how they assume/imply it's ALL bronies.
People still live mostly functional lives while being one. It's just certain people who make us look bad. They need some love and tolerance.

True enough. But really, in my opinion, FOX has been some of the BEST source of comedic fiction TOO DATE.
Really though, the way journalism is today, and people wonder why they often mistake the Onion for legit news. They see no difference.

Same cant be said for this poor soul. Subtlety is not the name of the game with this guy.

@Cosplaying:
I get where Dac is coming from, in that I think fur suits are a bit over the top. I prefer the subtle method, like the pictures of AJ cosplay posted. I agree that Halloween and costume parties are better suited for cosplay, but that doesn't change the fact that conventions see a LOT of it, so you might as well partake.
I don't see it as weird, mainly because I understand how fun it is to dress up for shits 'n' giggles. As an example, I went to a Renaissance fair with my older brother and my mom. We had too much fun for it to be looked down upon. Between me and my brother constantly stabbing each other, reverse-pillaging (we were dressed up as barbarians, and we ran around helping people), and making a big show of being incompetent, I had an awesome day.
I understand Dac's position, but I disagree with it (mostly).
