I saw some Rarity cosplay on EqD. I think there's a strange phenomenon among guys and girls who cosplay as a character from a fandom they follow. It seems like all of a sudden, they go from being average-looking to hot.
- Remove the cutie mark
- Remove the heavy eye shadow
- Remove the hair color and style
Don't get me wrong, she's an attractive girl, and some of the best cosplay is simple. If I knew what she was like, I'd certainly date her. She can't do much more to it to get that Rarity effect (the scarf thing is a nice touch.) But she's not a supermodel either.
Take this one for example. I've seen it in a thumbnail on Ponibooru, but I haven't looked at the comments. I imagine people are going to say she's really hot.
They're going ga-ga.
She's ok-looking. Like I said with the other girl, she's attractive, but if you take the swimsuit of…GAH, and put regular clothes on her, you pervs, and made her the natural brunette that she likely is, then you'd have an average-looking girl with breasts that are being held up by the fact that 1) fat floats and 2) that swimsuit looks like it's pulling on her pretty well. I don't know about the physics of the top, but I'm guessing that it's making a difference.
Sure, clothes and make up can add a lot more in terms of perceived attractiveness to some people than others, but I don't think it's all that. She's nice to look at. I don't want her to think she's not cute.
I know badsitrep's comment (or many of his comments) can't be taken too seriously, but I'm just saying…again.
Guh, now I'm going to have to start a thread about this…
