"Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence."

-Some guy from Wikipeida

Post your favorite music of any genre, suggest music to your friends, tell them that you like or hate their music, and give them a kiss or a punch, that is what music is all about.

I'll go ahead and post one of my favorite songs.

Adam Young is so cute…

One word people.

METALLICA!!!!! YEAH!

EDIT: Last time I tried the spoiler markup(in the "PSL/PACL" thread), it didn't work.

Anyways, happy now? (sigh)

Gorrilaz have to be my favorite band so far, i like them even more than queen.

I even fell in love with some of the songs and soundtracks from fallout new vegas (I'm still surprised that you haven't played it yet thomas)

This one by far has to be my favorite Fallout new vegas song.

I'm mostly into electronica. I'll give just about any style a chance, but my favourite genre is drum and bass. It's a ridiculously diverse genre of music, ranging from the mellow sounds of Netsky (first video) to the intense and usual rhythms of Noisia or Phace (second video). It's also great motivation music. Try going jogging or something while listening to some dnb, and you'll probably perform twice as well as you would normally.

(You might want to skip forward to about 1:25. Not much happens in the first minute.)

(I just included this because I love the song. It doesn't really get going until 1:20 or so.)

I also listen to a lot of dubstep. The main problem with dubstep is that you have to search through a ton of crap to find the good stuff. I get quickly annoyed by more 'brosteppy' songs, and usually prefer it when songs are a bit more chilled (unfortunately brostep is much more prevalent these days). Here's an example of a pretty relaxed dubstep track that I came across today:

Oh hey, this thread again.

Well not much has changed since the last music thread. I'm still first and foremost a listener of Drum & Bass and Trance.

Basically I'm in the same boat with Algernon here: Mostly into electronic with preference to D&B (On that note Algernon gets a +1 karma for mentioning B-complex) but I enjoy Dubstep, Trance, House and Industrial

Outside of electronic there is only a few bands I like: Disturbed, Rammstien and System of a Down…but I'm not really the interested in the other genre's

I just like music that compliments your thoughts and your actions. D&B goes well in the background of whatever you are doing, be it cycling or playing First Person Shooters and with Trance you can daydream to that stuff and fly to other worlds. You can't do that with other genre's (IMO)

My current favorite D&B and Trance is in my profile (change the theme) but I'll post something new that I have not posted here before:

D&B

D&B

Trance

I love classic rock and the like, but a bit more recently I've been listening to electronica, mostly dubstep, house and electro.
Speaking of which, Algernon showed me this link yesterday. OWSLA Presents: Free Treats Vol. 2. 19 songs released for free from the OWSLA label, consisting mainly of electro house and dubstep. I haven't listened to it all yet, but what I've heard so far is rather impressive. Artists on the album include KOAN Sound, Foreign Beggars, Skrillex, Bare Noize, 12th Planet, Zardonic, and Style of Eye, among many others.
Last night, I also listened to the extremely impressive (and free to download) State of Mind – Live! album. As the title suggests, it's a live album from drum and bass duo State of Mind. Make sure to listen to it all in one sitting.

I listen to just about every genre, but mostly rock, electronic, and country. Stone temple pilots, pearl jam, soundgarden, nirvana, Alice and chains, Gorillaz, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, merle haggard, dierks Bently, Blake Shelton, Willie Nelson, Deadmau5, daft punk, and skrillex to name a few. I've had a hard time with current hip hop and rap, it's really annoying. Lil Wayne, drake, and Rihanna have these songs that I heard the other day that are so annoying. I just can't listen to hip hop much.

@Cite

Already helped myself to that SOM album ;) (opspe pointed it out to me pretty quick as soon as it arrived). SOM is one of my favorites. They also originated right here in New Zealand

@Dac

I know that feel. hip hop is overplayed in my local clubs (Especially Snoop Dogg and Rihanna). Every single club plays hip hop every second song and only plays dubstep maybe once before they close. I'm tired of hearing that genre every single damn time I go out.

FTFY.

No you did not, I am fully aware what their normal outfits are. I just like their Tron outfits and the ones they wore with that idiot Kanye at the music awards. You can be a real smartass you know that, jeez!

I'm not a fan of today music (what's on the radio currently) to be honest.However, I enjoy many kind of music.My favourite genre are Symphonic Power Metal & Orchestral music but I also enjoy other genre like Rock, 80s music, Hardcore Electronic, Punk & Progressive.The only kind of music I dislike is Current Pop & Rap music (Let face it, It's too mainstream).As for Dubstep, I wish I could know more about this genre.It seem pretty interesting from what I've heard.

Some song I like.

Any music suggestion is welcome.

I'm not keen on giving out tips to those with ponies for avatars, just so you know Epicus.

But I will say that maybe you ought to look up a band by the name of "Metallica".

What you really need to be looking for is their stuff from the 80s.

Thats like recommending the beatles or queen! They are one of the most successful rock bands ever, Im sure Epicus has already formed an opinion on them.
Godsmack is pretty good as far a current bands go, though they have been at it since the 90's.

Also, look up a guy by the name of "Joe Satriani".

Again, look to his works from the 1980s.

@Captain Serious
I used to listen to Metallica before.Sadly one of my IRL friend over used their song. I liked their stuff until the Black Album. personnally, Ride The Lightning was my favourite album by them.Unfortunately, it became old over the time.This is what happen when one friend put the same song all over again.You get pissed off and cannot enjoy it anymore.

An awesome guitarist you need to know.Have some Yngwie Malmsteen.

I'm not mad. I didn't insinuate shit. Stop taking everything I say at a face value, goddamn.

Oh Cite, calm down. Honestly, your post seemed like that, but I didn't even really care. I just made a joke. Stop cussing too, I was obvoiusly joking in my last post. You can joke but I can't joke back.
By the way, I didn't downvote you.

@Dac

I think it's better if you just stopped replying to Cite. He's pretty much your polar opposite in terms of personality/attitude and every time you talk to each other it ends in conflict. Leave him be.

@Katie C

That was….interesting…

Had a soft beat with good atmosphere but at the same time; weird.

@Epicus

You and me both. Music I hear on TV and Radio is either, Pop, Rock or R&B…all of it bores me

The only music I have that gets played on Radio is probably SOM and even then, that's only on the obscure, underground channels.

The rest is all various stuff from Europe and UK…you've probably never heard of it
