Nice. Can anyone play?
Sure, game on. What else can we do to keep ourselves occupied?
yea I need a break from posting furry.
Do you think we can play that on Verbose, too?
Nah nevermind, Verbose has already posted a wall of text today.

Hi guy's! It feels great to be back in the pony thread after a week at some shitty christian Camp. I hope i didn't miss anything while i was gone.
This, this is just beautiful.
I really like the artist's other stuff, too.

We also ask lolstaz and Fifths to collaborate to create a parody of "She Blinded Me with Science" to play along with Connor's fanfiction.
EQUESTRIA DAILY WON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. IMAGINE TEH CHOAS.
TEH CHOASE.
For serious though. How are you guys holding up during the pony drought. Many of us, me included, got through the first pony drought just fine. In fact, I probably watched about 3 or 4 episodes each night before I went to bed during the summer. And then I found Ponibooru about a month before Season 2 started.
So much hype.
Â
So my question is: how much are you guys holding up with the drought?
When are you guys doing the next survey? Cuz I think I got an idea for something I could do.
Now for some smooth stuff.
Gigatoast wrote:

If all goes well, the survey will be done before Season 3 starts (maybe not the analyses, because I get the feeling that it will take me forever to do that.) opspe and I already discussed that much. I think that a week to two weeks would be enough time to get the survey out there and let people take it at their leisure (I anticipate that the next version will be much longer, so I don't want people to feel rushed. And being done with the data collection before Season 3 means that we won't have to worry about any recency effects (where people remember the premiere of Season 3 better than anything of Seasons 1 and 2.)
Â
So if the premiere is set to be in late September at the soonest, then I'd figure that we'd have the survey out there…sometime early September?

ay man, i skimmed through page 10 and 11, nothing interesting.
lets put it this way…
"You took everything I ever had… my life, my friends, my self-respect, everything but the air I breathe! Trixie the great! Magician extraordinary! It's funny isn't it? Trixie the clown! Trixie the stupid fool! But there's one trick you haven't seen Twilight; that no magician has ever dared to try! But I can't do it alone, you have to help me! In fact you'll be the star! Trixie the great! Magician extrordinary! Well why don't you laugh at me now? Laugh! LAUGH! LAUGH! DO IT! LAUGH!"
I dreamt of Tabitha St. Germain when I was taking a nap today. I know hardly anything about the woman except for her name, so it struck me as strange that I would dream about her. This leads me to believe it wasn't actually a dream, but Germain using her alien mind powers to try to incept something into my psyche.

I would be very disappointed to learn you don't have that poster hanging in your bedroom. Write on oh loquacious lord of the long-winded.

Voice actors not really known for anything else other than one really good thing they did having alien powers… seems legit.
Dropping in on an update; don't expect much else:
There's a change in the galaxy.
Men and women, stylizing themselves as freedom fighters, struggle against an oppressive Empire. Ex-Imperials, cantina scum, mercenaries, and just people with a desire for freedom all take up arms in the name of liberty.
A Rebellion.
The Death Star was going to show them…but five days ago…
It was destroyed. A young man of 19 went in after a fearsome battle, and destroyed the station.
Now, more and more planets are joining the Alliance. They need volunteers, mercenaries and hunters are asked to help with their cause.
Do I approve? Will I join?
…
The Empire has pushed me long enough. I was their tool
No Longer.
Vader will find someone else, maybe my brother Boba will come closer to him.
I will no longer serve the Empire. They will find someone else
The Alliance needs help. They've even offered to pay more.
I will help them.
I wonder if Equestria will join this Rebellion…
@Popper
Role playing is so two threads ago…
Quote from Michael Brockhoff regardig the documentary:
"The footage we shot at BronyCon, and continue to shoot elsewhere, reinforced the positive feelings about the Brony phenomenon that inspired us to make the film in the first place. At BronyCon we witnessed people laughing; singing; getting autographs; wearing costumes; dancing; attending panels; meeting one another for the first time; taking pictures; etc, etc. We experienced a general outpouring of friendship, cooperation and excitement at being part of something new and good. It was infectious.
The notion that Bronies are a bunch of deviants to be feared by society was never in evidence -- nor did we ever think it would be. So, the question of seeking out and, therefore, giving credence to a very small subculture within the Brony community simply because it exists, seems like a stretch for this documentary.
We are aware of Internet Rule 34: 'If it exists there is porn.' Does that mean if we were to do a documentary about the Andy Griffith show, 'Mayberry' we'd have to include a cosplay fan pretending to be Barney Fife having his way with Aunt Bee? "
@Windigo
True, very well said though I will say that despite my typically unflappable demeanor, his Andy Griffith reference got a cringe out of me.
I understand the motivation behind wanting to cover 'the dark side.'
It certainly exists, and totally ignoring it my give the impression of pandering or bias on their part.
The problem is that these guys have stated from the beginning that they want to cover the rise of the bronies specifically; the things that drew people into the show and made it the phenomenon it has become and all the amazing positive contributions we have made to the world of art, music, charity, etc.
The true nature of the fandom emerged from genuine appreciation of the show itself, and that's what truly deserves the attention, at least in the scope that they are covering.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind having someone else take it upon themselves to do a more 'inclusive' documentary that takes an unbiased look at R34.
It really is a fascinating subject if you can get over the 'ick' factor, but it's an issue for another time and another team.
@DeadParrot222
Personally, I'd like to watch a video of "the making of" of that darkside documentary almost as much as I would like to watch the theoretical documentary itself. Trying to find cloppers for a documentary is a little bit like trying to use a flashlight to show shadows to your friend: They're friggin everywhere, but they vanish as soon as you try to shed some light on them.
In order for it to be a decent documentary, they'd have to get some guys to step forward and sit down infront of a video camera and talk about it. I would not only admire the journalists for doing all the drudge work of finding these individuals, but also the individuals themselves for having balls of cast iron.
The more I think about it however, the more I think it wouldn't work and would probably be inappropriate. As Brockhoff mentioned, rule 34 isn't a pony specific phenomenon. We don't judge Star Wars/Star Trek fans for the weird alien porn some of their members inevitably get off to, so why are we judged for what our cloppers do?
Honestly, what we really need is a study dedicated to rule 34 itself to explore this phenomenon where virtually EVERYTHING is sexualized.

@Randombrony
Right here.
I'm in Hawkes Bay, how about you?
PS: Those two posts could have been one. Try not do double post like that.
@Fifths
A documentary on the nature of Rule 34 (across the internet at whole) would actually be very interesting, or at least it would be in my opinion.
I find that the desire of the internet to sexualize everything to be one of the most curious and fascinating aspects of internet culture. Do we do it because we use our anonymity as a gateway to express our more controversial sexual interests. If we really are all that perverted, then is it perversion or just a suppressed normality?
Those are questions I would love to see answered. Besides someone once did a documentary on boobs. If that passes for national television then a documentary on the Internets porn affairs is not out of the question.
It might even resolve some of the ongoing conflicts we still get in this fandom even if such a documentary would not be focused on us.

There's also Burning_Phoneix and Stunthead. Both of them are in Auckland I think.
If you want to chat with other Kiwi KYM'ers feel free to post on our walls rather than here though. We sort of want to keep this thread about Pony discussion and not Brony chit-chat
Posting really good artwork passes here too. EG:

Oh yeah, man. We've taken it to the next level. We're now LARPing as we type our posts.
I'm wearing a Rainbow Dash fursuit as I type that and will run around my room after this in an attampt to do a sonic rainboom while screaming "20% cooler" non-stop.
And it will be So Awesome!
Edit: A few minutes in the running, still no sonic rainboom. Hear people downstairs saying I should stop the screaming. What do they know about following your dreams.
EditEdit: Jumped out the second floor window hoping the gravity would do the job. No luck. Most likely broke at least one leg and some ribs. Amazed my laptop still works. Hear my mother inside screaming and telling my father to call an ambulance. I'll run upstairs in a few minutes to try again, surely the bleeding has stopped by then. If not, the lose of weight from the bloodloss might gain me some extra speed.
Wish me luck!

No idea, just something I spotted in the image gallery and appeared nicely done to me. Perhaps someone else here may have a clue
F*ck, I just went by some person who uploaded a shitload of duplicates to different entries. Not as in images that were posted before, but posting one image in 5+ different entries no matter how minimally related they were. His image contributions went back from 355 to 115. Probably removed a few too many, but after the first 100 I didn't really care all the time.
Scrolled through some galleries to check unrelated images from other users. Besides some images that are now removed, I also spotted this gem. Makes it worth it again.
My parents, my siblings, my friends, and my dog all know that I'm a brony.
And accept it gracefully.

@BSoD
He's always telling me I need to "start acting like a man" and stuff like that. And he doesn't take no for an answer ever. If he discovers I like ponies and he decides that's not something he wants me to be interested in I swear it would not be beyond him to make it damn near impossible for me to even begin to get a pony fix. But I also don't want to make it look like something I think I should be ashamed of by constantly being super secretive about it. So I do pony stuff while people are around and may potentially see but not when they are directly able to see.
It's a complicated mess in my head, but I've been a brony for over a year now so so far it's working.
@Zarathh
wait wut
@BSoD and Randombrony
Here's the source for that picture up there: SOURCE.
In general, if you are looking for sources, DERPIBOORU is a great place to go.
Most of our uploads here come from Derpibooru now that Ponibooru is dead, and they are typically very good about tracking artists and providing source links.
Just search for the characters in the picture and you can probably find it.
@Stargazer
I have a Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo, and Derpy sitting on my desk next to my computer and still have managed to avoid the whole 'brony' reveal so far.
I doubt they'll have any serious problem with it, but it's still embarrassing to actually say 'My Little Pony' out loud.
I partially satiated their curiosity by telling them that it's kinda like a 'Pokemon thing.'
Still formulating a plan for the actual 'coming out.'
@Stargazer:
That is quite a dilemma, and I'm not sure if I can help. After all, it's your dad, and you probably know him best. If you think it would go over well if he found it, or whatever else might happen, act accordingly as you see fit. Good luck, I guess.
I, personally, never had that problem, so I don't have much advice to give. My brother converted both me and my mom at the same time, and we dropped a hint to our dad, but it sounded like he didn't give a fuck, or didn't like the sound of grown men watching MLP. I guess what I can say is be cautious and think carefully, because this could greatly alter your free time and all of that.
@Zar:
HEY!
Some of us only spend 90% of our time in the PG thread!
@Derpibooru:
I've heard a lot of people saying the Derpibooru is superior to ponibooru, which is awesome and all of that jazz. I, personally, never really visited ponibooru, and I likely won't visit Derpibooru, but it's nice to see a good image-sharing site sprout up, especially if it has good sourcing for images, what with all the artists in the fandom.
Anyways, I've been looking through some tumblrs I have saved, and I realized how immensely awesome Moonstuck and Discorderly Conduect are. Altogether I probably got 30 minutes of laughter out of a few pages of both.
My friends know I'm a brony, in fact some of them are bronies, and they're all ok with it.
As for parents….
I tried to see how they would react to bronies, so I told them "Have you heard that there are men who watch my little pony? They're called bronies."
They said "You don't watch it do you?"
At that time I was only watching the new episodes of season 2, hadn't seen much of season 1, so I said I only watched a couple.
The fact that they said "You don't watch it do you" is what keeps me from telling them.
@Zarathh
Meanwhile, on the other side of the tower…
"Repunsel, repunsel! Let down your golden hair!"
"Are you a brony?"
"Uh, no…"
"Then fuck off, my love"
:P
so i have the hub now
is it wrong i only have it to watch for batman beyond because i watch mlp online anyways
New topic. What do you all think about the bronies in the comments of the MLP entry? I personally think they have a hell of an ego sometimes. I also think that the forum dwellers are more down to earth than the comments section, but that's just me.
@Regarding the Bronies who ONLY post on that comment section.
I got nothing against them. I don't think of them in any generalist terms. Although as far as common attitudes go, I think Randomman made a pretty good point (His post on their ego was a few pages back)
There is just one thing: I really wish they would come over here, I feel like we are being ignored. We keep telling people that we have a perfectly good thread here built for the sole purpose of getting all that chatter off the article and subsequently off the trending bar but it seems like these guys just don't listen. They've built their own little social circle over there where they do the exact same thing we do here but they like it over there better.
How they find that comment section more convenient than posting here…I'll never know. Here on this thread we have a bigger character limit, we have an edit button, we have chronologically descending posts, we have less trolls and idiots and all the news posted in the article gets posted here first! Maybe we smell bad or something, I don't know
What also irks me is that the comment section of that article is intended for news and updates to that article and the meme in question, it was never designed for socializing and discussion. I'm pedantic about those sort of things. I demand services be used for the purposes intended! My melancholy wont have it any other way!
COMMENTERS! Y U NO POST HERE!?
@Comment section
Oh, wow, I haven't even thought about the main article's comment section in months.
I agree with BSoD, though.
Not even talking about its intended purpose It's much messier than here on the forum so it's always been confusing as to why people want to use it so much.
We should try to 'convert' some of them to our side!

As for the comments section, I spent a bit of time there before the Season 2 finale, and I didn't really see why it's any better to the forums. But, to be totally honest, this is my opinion on the matter:

I post here and there. The only difference is that people who dwell in the comment section have to deal with ragers more often than forumers. Imho they do it pretty well.
I don't think it was a good idea to start this sort of topic, though.

I haven't looked in the comment section in a LONG time. I think that most people just assume that's the MLP forum. It would explain why they never show up here.

Meh, could've been worse. I already made my opinion on their ego. But I won't go too deep into it, I know we have some of the commenters who lurk here. Although I don't know which users do lurk, I just know they're there. But the comments section has enough good sides as well. Only saying they suck makes us no better than youtube comments.
Seriously, I'm seeing people who claim the forum is far better than the comments while agreeing with my comment on their ego. Irony much?
I really can't say that the forum is perfect either. We had shitstorms far worse than the comment section ever knew. The comments had their shitstorms as well in the past, but that was before we started using the forum more actively. If you take out the factor that we're two different groups, we're not that much better. Truth remains though that this forum allows far better discussion, including your occasional random images.
The less trolls can be explained by two reasons. First is that a lot of users don't check out the forum. We simply don't have an active forum compared to active comments, which I often find too bad. Second is that mods check the forum more often than the comments, making it a bigger risk for trolls and haters to be caught in the act. And karma, let's not forget about karma.
@BSoD Maybe some of them just don’t really know that much about a forum system, like how to post videos and pictures, maybe some of them are too stubborn to move to over here, and maybe some of them aren’t really that deep into this website and think that a forum would be too deep internet for them. Those are my ideas. Also what RandomMan said about the trolls and not really wanting to check the forums.

Posting videos and images here is no different than on the comments.
The forums also allow for stuff like quoting. So basically by sticking to the comments you're only wasting some good features.
